"You will need to be a student and have an NUS card"

The great thing about working at a University, is that the student union will sell you a NUS card.

Hum... this seems to want you to buy some bolt-on? (it's a little confusing)

If this is the GS bolt-on the last time I looked it was rubbish with only a very small selection of restaurants compared to the full fat GS card.

Yes I read something about a bolt on but was not too sure what it meant.

What do you mean? I thought it was a good deal but by everyone’s comments it seems bad.
Gourmet Society are a nasty outfit if you want to cancel. Threatening emails, horrible attitude. Avoid!
I have one that cost £8 for three years. It gets 25% off all purcahses at a few places I use so worth it for me, but folk are right that it doesn't cover more than a handful of places in each area, some of which do BOGOF, but only early in the week. The NUS card already covers most of the chain restaurants that the GS card does. The other benefit for me is discounted Cinema Tickets with the GS card, which cuts the cost of VUE for example to around 4.5 and you don't have to pay their booking fee.

The cinema ticket discount was another reason why I wanted to buy this. Do you have the student card and is it a one time purchase or are you stuck in a yearly auto renew contract which you have to cancel?

i bought it last year with the nus card because they said you could get 50% discount now, if you search through the nud site for the restaurants that support the GS NUS card you will notice its only a few and tend to be the same ones the NUS support already and if you check the extra discount its nearly nothing extra than when you want to claim the discount you need yo show your normal NUS card wich if yoy bought it extra will have the smallest GS logo on there somewhere i can hardly read it. Anyway i find it useless as its hard to just walk into a place and say do you do GS NUS discount, they tend to know NUS and GS but not the combination of both

Ah, my NUS card is expiring soon which is why I was thinking of purchasing it. Plus it gave you money off at the cinema. Just out of interest was it a one time purchase or are you in a contract as someone in the comments on my dead said something about Gourmet Society was hard to cancel but I’m guessing the student one is a one time purchase.

Ah thanks, I might purchase this tomorrow. It says on the website that this card gives you up to 40/50% off at the cinema.
