This is an LG OLED TV - widely regarded as the best TVs available thanks to the perfect blacks, stunning contrast and wide colour gamut. It has Netflix, Amazon, BBC iPlayer built in and highly regarded Web OS. LG OLED picture quality is simply breathtaking with a 4K Blu Ray. Few would dispute this is the best TV in the world. Don’t compare it with LCD/LED models - they won’t come anywhere close.
The TV is huge but so is the price. If you can afford it, it’s a good deal. You’ll enjoy this TV for years and won’t be disappointed. Reliant are £1000 cheaper than PRC, Peter Tyson etc and I suspect you’ll get an even better deal if you call them.

Daft money aside, this is a good deal. Heat from me

It isn't actually.

The 2018 just released c8 77 inch is 7999 and currently 500 cashback from LG.

500 off for last year's model on item of this value is not sensible.

That's a considerably older model. I don't think that has HDR support of any kind.

Except this is the G range, which has its own soundbar. Still if you're spending this sort of money on a TV, it would be a shame not to pair it to a decent sound system

Nobody is spending this sort of money for the soundbar.

Everyone has a Sonos who cares about audio but doesn't want speakers dominating living room. Or those that don't are still pretending they are in their early 20s.

Subjectively I attempt to forecast depreciation for any item costing £100+

That's quite a low bar. Meal for 4. A week's shopping. A pair of jeans. They would all have worse depreciation, it's just that the hit isn't so bad when it comes to absolute numbers. If you e got the cash and are in the market, this isn't too bad. Think of the poor so and sos (poor probably isn't the word) who paid £20k+ for this!

Definitely a level of depreciation acceptable per vertical, however discussing weekly shops and jeans is comparing Apples and Pears. Technology such as this should retain a certain value percentage over x amount of years. I’m guessing this TV will not, the high price indicates a monopolistic innovation, OLED, which in-fact, companies such as Sony and Panasonic are buying rights to manufacturer, OLED TVs will soon decrease in price due to wider availability.

Yes, I still have deep regrets about a meal I had in 2009.
The depreciation is a good point to raise.
Simply because the depreciation on these isn't that bad.
Now if you paid £15000 last year, different story.

This year's model 77 inch starts at 8000, the 65 inch 5000 and 55 inch 3500. (All RRPs).

Last year's 65/55 inch models were 3000/2000.

So buying 77 inch this year when you can get Currys top up cards at 7% off face value and then get 6% quidco and 500 cashback leaves you paying about 6500 for latest 2018 model.

Then Currys are running a 1 in 20 chance of your money back.

So...yes it's a big chunk of cash but if you want a large screen oled then that's where it is and my 3 x 2500 and 1 x 500 top up cards are being delivered Monday.

Where can you get them for 7% off? I was assuming Zeek, but that's only offering 2% at the moment

You're risking Quidco not paying up (never guaranteed) and LG not taking the voucher sale as a discount. If Currys list them on the receipt as a redeemed offer then LG may not pay the cashback, as it stipulates that it will not pay out where an offer has been used.

Quidco isn't guaranteed.
LG cashback is guaranteed, it's not an offer, it's a gift voucher credit which is fine.

Work scheme, but easy enough to do with a bit of searching without a genuine scheme.
