Haven't see the Diamonds one before , will have to check that out.

The mens aftershave they do smells just like Boss orange

suddenly madame - got it from Lidl last time it was on a weekend special offer for £1.99 & it smells SO good!!!! heat added

What is the Diamonds similar to?:p

This smells lovely. Just told my hubby about the other one as I need to give that one a try too. Excellent for work perfume.

this stuff is horrible. smells like neat alcohol

silly me didn't read the op's post and went today:|. available from the 6th in time for Valentines. the staff told me this when I asked, Diamonds is not in stock at my local until the 6th.

Nothing says i love you more than some liddle perfume !

These often go on offer for £1.99 if you're willing to wait. Naturally they all disappear off the shelves. I've got Suddenly Madame Glamour, though it doesn't last as long as a Chanel EDP it's nice!!

Boyf often gets X-Bolt EDT when it's on offer, which is like Boss Bottled. He even had a perfume snob comment on it a few months back, when he told her what it really was she was horrified. Interested in trying the Suddenly Diamonds variant.

Suddenly Madame Glamour:

Blurb from the aforementioned page:

"Lidl UK have launched a new perfume under their private label Suddenly called ‘Madame Glamour’ in stores nationwide. Arriving on the shelves for the first time in May, it has been so popular with customers that many stores have already sold out. The sensational new perfume has been produced exclusively for Lidl, and retails at the incredible price of £3.99 for 50ml.

With citrus and floral notes, incorporating Bergamot and Jasmine the new Lidl perfume, which arrives just in time for summer, is proving to be the perfect accessory of the season. An Independent Fragrance Consultant attributes the perfume's appeal to its "fresh citrus and floral notes merging to an alluring, exotic oriental accord". He goes on to describe it as "a timeless, affordable, and classic fragrance ".

A Lidl spokesperson says: “We were keen to create a fragrance that embodies elegance and femininity for everyday wear. It just shows it doesn’t have to cost you a fortune to feel instantly glamorous.”

Two independent consumer panel blind tests carried out by the Perfumer's Guild on the Lidl Suddenly Madame Glamour perfume against the hugely popular designer branded perfume revealed incredible results - 50 women in the first test voted overwhelmingly for the Lidl Suddenly perfume with 89% saying they would prefer to wear it over the designer brand. And, 90% of the 100 women who blind tested the perfumes in the second round said they also preferred the Lidl perfume.

Europe is the largest market for private label products globally and, within Europe, the UK is the largest private label market by size, with Germany second. This represents a shift in consumer purchasing habits and the increasing number of sophisticated own label products offered as alternatives to premium priced brands."

Some other "Suddenly" items not mentioned, might be worth looking out for.

My bro wears that. I wasn't too keen on it (that said, I'm not keen on Boss Bottled either), and even he says the longevity is awful, you have to re-apply every hour or so.

It's 50ml!!!

bought it last time it went on offer after seeing all the great reviews here... the smell is ok but does not last too long . just don't get your hopes too high when you see all the comparison to chanel like I did Not sure if it smells anything like chanel but for the price I would stock up on a couple to use on local trips and save my burbery for special occassions !!

You have to be kidding! This cannot possibly be compared to the stunning coco mademoiselle! I would rather fork out for the real thing. Yes it is extortionate but the scent lasts all day. A woman at work wears this and it just doesn't cut the mustard. She floats around thinking she's the bees knees wearing her cheap imitation

I'm lucky enough to have some pure parfum (not EDP) Chanels: Allure Sensuelle, No5, Allure and Chance.

I can't comment on comparisons to Coco Mademoiselle as I don't have it, but I think it's perfectly wearable. Of course, some scents just don't suit some people's skin/body chemistry. If you're really unsure, wait till it's on offer for £1.99.

glad somebody agrees

Main ingredient is water which explains longevity and projection issues. Most people probably wont be able to tell the difference but at the same time it's £3.99.

Can't find the full survey results anywhere.

I must admit, this comment made me laugh out loud.

Coco Mademoiselle EDP ingredient list: Alcohol, Parfum (Fragrance), Aqua (Water), Butylphenyl Methylpropional, Linalool, Benzyl Salicyclate, Citral, Citronellol, Coumarin, Geraniol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Hydroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene Carboxaldehyde, Limonene, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, Ethylhexyl Salicyclate, CI 14700 (Red 4) and CI 42090 (Blue 1).

Suddenly Madame Glamour ingredient list: Alcohol, Aqua, Parfum, Linalool, Butylpheyl Mehtylpropional, Limonene, Citronellol, Diethylhexyl, Syringylidene Malonate, Citral, Caprylic/Capric Trigycerinide, Cl 14700, Cl 19140.

I'm assuming you mean the Chanel has water mentioned after fragrance, unlike the Lidl version.

LOL classy! Another reason why I wouldn't be seen dead in these stores. For the lower classes indeed.

That's fine saffaboy101, you can go in Waitrose to buy your stuff and when you leave the shop you'll just jump in the buss and rub shoulders with the "lower class" wearing your expensive perfume! I'll just buy the Lidl stuff and wear it in my BMW, it'll compliment the leather seats I have because I saved money on invisible stuff! Ah, almost forgot, as well I will listen to my Focal speakers astounding sound streamed to my very inexpensive £450 stereo from my underclass HTC one. As well I will cook some beef bought from the same supplier used by Waitrose, Tesco, Sainsbury and Lidl, just gonna afford a bit more garnish than you will because you're upperclass!
Honestly, get a life!

These are two detailed, and fair, reviews of Suddenly Madame Glamour and Suddenly Diamonds that are worth reading. (Originally in Romanian).

Madame Glamour: scentia.ro/?p=553

Diamonds: scentia.ro/?p=1404

(Mentioned this on MSE too). The reviewer also mentions a perfume called "Suddenly Woman I" which is apparently like No5. But I've never seen this in the UK. scentia.ro/?p=…129

I bought this after seeing it on Martin Lewis's programme. Coco mademoiselle is my favourite perfume, this smells nothing like it and fades within minutes of putting it on. You get what you pay for.

I put this in a Chanel 5 bottle and failed to pass it off on the wife, one whiff of this and she said that the perfume was off.

I put this in a Chanel 5 bottle and failed to pass it off on the wife, … I put this in a Chanel 5 bottle and failed to pass it off on the wife, one whiff of this and she said that the perfume was off.

That's because it's not meant to be a copy of Chanel No5?! It's supposed to be a Coco Mademoiselle dupe.

Your wife must not know her Chanels because they don't even smell like each other. At all.

I'd also be interested to know how you decanted the Lidl scent to the Chanel No 5 bottle (I assume completely washed of the original scent), as the Lidl bottle is a bit of a b*gger. That is, if you actually did...!

I'll answer my own question: youtube.com/wat…eBo (thanks to Fragrantica)

Actually I did, and if you look back on previous Hukd you will find that people said that it was similar to chanel No5 which I tried and failed, she also said that it was no where near Coco Mademoiselle either, I used a syringe to transfer.
Edited by: "jdocuk" 4th Feb 2014

Nobody was calling you names (??). You've now elaborated saying your wife said it "didn't smell like Coco Mademoiselle either" (she just said "it was off" originally), and, strangely enough, you've used the same method I linked to. A few coincidences going on there...

The perfumes are in no way similar to each other, in any way, and it is a bizarre comparison to make. Chanel No5 is THE iconic perfume and it would be natural to assume most women are familiar with its' scent. Perhaps your wife isn't, which isn't crime of the century, but it sounds like neither of you know your scents well.

I've never seen anyone compare Madame Glamour to No5, and I've read nearly all of the HUKD threads. I read Fragrantica a lot and Basenotes, too.

I forgot I actually have (had) another Chanel, which I gave to my sister: Coco EDP, which I decanted very easily to a travel atomiser as the cap came off (I had a Chanel glass refill bottle), so I'm familiar with some of Chanel's EDPs and parfums. Alas, I've not had Mademoiselle yet.

Edit: misread!

Yeah I was referring to the fact that lidl's products have more alcohol and water than actual perfume/fragrance compared to their imitiated fragrances.

Also lidl just "copies" the top notes, once they're gone you pretty much reapply. That's not to say for £3.99 they aren't bad of course just you are getting what you pay for. I'm also slightly skeptical of their surveys as I'm sure I remember the xbolt one saying it beat this and that but what they didn't mention was xbolt was beaten by something else.
Edited by: "yrreb88" 4th Feb 2014

I wore Coco Mademoiselle for years, my Mum got the Lidl copy, it's VERY alike, lighter, not as dense , does not last as long.

Absolutely fine for £3.99

Any perfume is cheapened when someone is drenched in it.

I take it that you own your home outright and have at least half a million in the bank. As you are viewing a bargains website, that suggests to me you haven't, therefore you are owned by the banks and the government just like the rest of us and the so-called "lower classes" you seem to despise.
