I have both, this beats the fire stick hands down

Everybody needs a dingle

And yes, this instead of a fire stick.

I've tried the fire stick and seems good/ok for purpose on kodi. It is a bit slow sometimes..
This will be super smooth?
Are there alternatives from Asia with perhaps 2x hardware specs?

Or is this pretty good in terms of power/speed?

Last sum vision I had was the micro 2 and that was pretty good (minus the remote).

bought one of these then a Bluetooth dongle does anyone know how I can use a mouse app via my phone with this ?

How do you install kodi on this? I'm new to this stuff please help

I think Kodi is already installed.

Thanks to all for the comments on this vs Fire Stick...I'm going to go for this

It comes preinstalled. When you boot kodi for the first time it will run a wizard to help you install the different addons.

whats the remote like on this compared to firestick? and is wifi ok?

Original Poster

Remote and wifi of firestick work better than Sumvision's. Having said that, the sumvision's remote works without problems if you are not very far away (my sofa is about 10ft from the box and it works fine) but wifi can be a pain to setup especially if there are many routers around.

It comes with it on it, but if you go to the play store and download the apk installer and then go to tvaddons.ag/ and download the apk for android (can stick it on a stick or download it through the web browser thats already on the box) Then you will have loads of add ons already installed on kodi .

Sumvision is quadcore, has 2 usbs and micro-sd so you can play external content, plus the ethernet. It is android so you can easily install and update apps while the installation of kodi in firestick is a pain. Streaming kodi content when both setup and working are more or less the same, even though I find 1080p video to be a bit clearer when played by the sumvision box. I hope that helps.

is this better than the beelink x2 (approx £20) or MXQ which is openelec compatible for £28? Thinking of getting one as I'm currently plugging the tablet into the tv to use kodi

if i was choosing, having had the MXQ box and openELEC on it, i'd go for the MXQ every time.

It's just so much better basically having a "Kodi Box" - unless you're going to use the box as a gaming device or overall "smart" box for catchup apps like iPlayer e.t.c., then you don't really need to bother with any aspect of 'regular' android. Booting straight in to Kodi is perfect.

I stupidly upgraded to the M8S which, spec-wise, is brilliant, but you can't get openELEC for it ..

There's a few mxq online.. Would you have a recommendation?
I kinda just want out of box play, though I played with android phones and coding, I'm just keen on plug and play for the TV

basically, any you can find here ..

http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=%22s805%22+%22mxq%22

if you can find a uk based seller amongst that lot then any of those boxes are worth getting.

picked one of these up, anyone had any joy loading any builds/wizards for Kodi? Keep getting a script error before rebooting after installation and so doesn't seem to complete the installation

remove it completely and install the current version from the play store - 14.2 isn't the latest version.

is there an easy way to backup the current version of kodie just incase?

there's no "just in case" about it unless google play suddenly decides to die. have you got loads of stuff installed in Kodi then?

CAn you put lollipop on this?

Good value branded box - better bet than some home made thing from eBay

Or you can load the Kore app on your phone and control kodi on this box directly via WiFi. Works great.

£32.89 at the moment. price gone up?

I'm really loving this unit, but I'm looking for ideas to connect to single or multiple remote speakers like a cheap sonos. Any ideas? Would kodi/android be able to use a USB Bluetooth transmitter?

Can you watch sky sports etc on these?

Anyone tried the mx Pro v MXQ or this?

"1080p Video to be a bit clearer" absolute nonsense. It won't affect the 1080p image.. if it is under powered then it will stutter or drop frames... it won't downgrade the image quality.
Placebo effect.. that's what you're getting.
