Does it not have a dedicated graphics chip? Mali 400 or the other?
Or is it not designed for games? Primarily a surfer/video player?

Apparently you can send photos and videos to this from your phone using the app imediashare.

I already use imediashare to send photos to my Tv so I wonder if the box works with the 'play to' feature in windows which also works with my TV

"The ATV1200 uses an extremely powerful dual-core Cortex A9 chipset. This provides a smooth user experience. The MyGica ATV1200 is currently one of the fastest Android Smart TV box available. The Mali-400 graphic co-processor provides a huge degree of graphics processing power. This translates into the ability to play the latest 3D games (providing they support mouse control) and play the latest video formats with ease."

Thanks Crunchie, I searched 4 websites and none of them told me that information.
(the only search I didn't do was for "MyGica ATV1200")

Seems a very good piece of kit for the price, couple this with a Bluetooth dongle, that Keyboard from Zavvi on eBay and you will have a nice little setup.

Pity I can't afford it now and wouldn't be much point since I'm going away for over 10 weeks starting next month..
I'll be looking out for it when I come back though..

Thanks for the posts, Crunchie

That uses the rockchip, it isn't support by XBMC natively. Also, I'm dubious of the quality of those small tv sticks as the one I just received lasted all of 2 hours before it broke. Plus you almost always have to buy a better PSU for them
And the wifi range is usually poor on those. This has a proper aerial. That's not in the UK. That doesnt have LAN or component or Toslink/spdif

Need I say more?

Good box when it works. Just had to send mine back, hdmi and components both failed. Xbmc will be better once linux xbmc is ported to this.

Good points, taken on board.
Not bought a mini tv device like these before, but I will.
Thanks again!

Hopefully that's a rare problem! At least it wouldn't need to be sent back to china though!

Have you tried Airplay with the latest android xbmc?

Anybody know if the wifi range is decent on these for netflix? Thinking of getting one for the bedroom but the router is downstairs.

For me Android was just a little too sluggish and so I installed the pivos Linux rom which is much better but does convert it to just being a XBMC box.

And as an XBMC box its not any better than a PI which happens to be cheaper (I have both and prefer the PI with openelec)

still don't see the point of these - unless you smart tv or blu ray wont play certain files

Errr think you answered your own question there!

someone correct me if I'm wrong - but pretty sure these ( as in within XBMC) weren't yet able to decode DTS audio? Which would mean the majority of bluray rips would have no audio

I decided against getting one for xbmc purposes for now.

I don't have a smart TV or Blu Ray player. And don't want either.

I couldn't get my sumvision cyclone 2.3 to play from my NAS which seemed odd, but on contacting them they stated that the HD playback was over the internet, not to stream from a home server or the like.

It went back and I got the WD live, shame as I fancied the android apps on it.

It replaced my sumvision cyclone live which is still excellent but in another room.

Can anyone confirm this does stream media from a windows share, or a NAS, not DNLA, actual streaming so you can browse the files etc?

Seems stupid ive orderd one to connect to my nas drive ill let you know i cant see it not working its dnla compliant

Ordered a MyGica 1200 a fortnight ago and its a great bit of kit. Really enjoy XBMC and the web browser particularly. Paid £90 so bit gutted the same box has already been reduced by a 1/3 of the price! Oh well.

Great bit of kit for online streaming and I'm very pleased with it. I recommend definitely investing in a air mouse with keyboard (like this one futeko.com/pro…php ) as it is way way easier to type things and point with it than the supplied remote. I got one as a bundle with the box for an extra £15. On top of this I managed to get the free £22 Sony Entertainment voucher detailed in the freebies section using the box.

reading through that thread you pointed me to suggested many dts issues, along with xvid issues, I simply will not use any streaming, simply plug a usb drive into it and thats it. Do you know of any new firmware or "fixes" for said issues to date?

Is this full android then? I can install my plex app etc. and it'll work? Need something for my mum, but it needs to hook into my media server.

It's running Jellybean 4.1.2, so yes

This or pay ~£10 more for Asus O!Play?

I use that android xaf xbmc build on my G-box midnight. It does work really well, and the whole interface seems smooth and responsive. The only problem with android xbmc I've found is that it doesn't work to well with live streams.
I do plan on trying the linux build which is supposed to be excellent.

Thanks OP - another box

No worries, here's another option you might like hotukdeals.com/dea…610

So this would replace my old WDTV (rev1) and be better at everything??

could I stream movies off this from my usb hd onto my tablet ?

Ordered one of these for TVcatchup, VLC and iPlayer. Might replace it with an OUYA once the price drops, but looks perfect for the moment.

You'd need to use an app like BubbleUPnP or DNLA Server but it's definitely doable.

You could also use Smanager to run a Samba server.

So is this essentially like those android dongle sticks like the Imito?

If so, how is this peice of kit different?

Anyone know if a usb joypad will work with this? Wanted to use this unit to play the snes emulator but need to know if a joypad will work out of the box so to speak without any software downloads or anything like that.

A quick google says probably not
See http://www.futeko.com/forum/index.php?mode=thread&id=6613

I plan to plugin a bluetooth dongle and use a ps3 pad. Will report back once I actually receive a unit

Easier and cheaper to use a Raspberry Pi for that.

are u sure that a raspberry pi is as good as this.has the pi got as much power as this also this has 4 usbs so I could connect both my 2tb hd's plus a bluetooth kb also connect to my other pc thru the ethernet. as well as also being said the wifi should be quite good on this with the built in ariel.

Can you dick with the settings to allow US Netflix through it? Or do you have to do it via your router?

Would be nice not to have the XBox on just for Netflix.

You can manually set the DNS on it just like any other android device so US Netflix access should work if you unblock US etc
