Great clock to have for dark winter mornings....heat given.

Might be worth checking to see if you can find any stock in Maplins for something similar (reduced to £9.99 but very little availability)

Cannot get link to work, just search for a56lw on the Maplin site

Anyone know how these compare to Lumie/Phillips equivalent?
Yes, I'd like to know too. Last year's version gets poor reviews.

For those asking I think it's safe to assume this will not be as good as the Phillips / Lumie equivalents. However it should be comparable & do the job

I recently owned a Phillips but had to replace it as it started to go a bit haywire! I bought this from argos in the end at £19.99. Again, not as good as the phillips, but pretty decent.

Good alternative to the Aldi one I'd suggest

Wow 300w rms, that's gonna wake you up!
Given poor reviews I would avoid. Why people insist on buying these overpriced Aldi knock offs bewilders me. The UK seems to be brainwashed into buying budget tat

The Aldi 'knock offs' have always performed really well for me. They aren't knock offs anyway. Medion, who does lots of their electronics is a respected manufacturer and has been for years. The added bonus is you can take it back anytime and they refund and replace without quibble even months later, and even if you just 'didn't like ' it.
I have the Lumie one and think it is great. Much easier to get up on dark mornings. When I first got it the second the light went on it woke me, but i don't tend to start coming around now until it is bright light.
I have the bird sound set on the very lowest level and not sure why but it wakes me instantly, it is the most annoying sound, but good for waking me up.

I managed to get one from Maplin and it does the job, light is really bright when it is full, really good value for money. I cannot compare it to the Aldi clock as I have not seen that one working...

Ignore Jase99 he posts anti-Aldi and Lidl drivel all the time, none of it factual just made up in his own little head.
Has anyone tried one of these out yet? Are they any good?

It's pretty good I think. All works as intended. The light can come on gradually over 5 to 30 mins (5 min intervals). The alarm/radio comes on gradually over 60 seconds. It seems you can only set 1 alarm though. There's also different colours for the light and automatic cycling, though they can't go as bright as the white light.
The display and speaker aren't better than average. There's also a very slight hum when both the light and alarm/radio are on at the same time, but I can only hear it when music isn't playing and the volume is very low.

Cheers for that. Two left in York and I've grabbed one; quite a few local stores have 1 left too.
