Possible misprice, seems it's a new Whisky to Tesco and is listed on its own website as £35, yet I bought two bottles (last 2) in Whiteley Tesco for £17.50 each.

Well worth a look in your nearest Tesco if you're passing, this one isn't even that big a store so it's likely they'll have it in most, whether or not it's this price...

Description from Tesco website:
A vivid blend of whiskies from Suntory's Hakushu, Yamazaki, and Chita distilleries, Suntory Whisky Toki features the quintessential characteristics of a Suntory Whisky blend: exquisite balance, harmony, and oneness.
At the same time, its unique pairing of Hakushu American white oak cask malt whisky with Chita heavy-type grain whisky overturns the traditional hierarchy between malt and grain.
Toki is a new harmony, offering both a new experience. It's extraordinary versatile - and you can enjoy it neat, on the rocks, in a highball or as part of a cocktail.

Its made in Japan so its not really a whisky is it!

Yes it is. It's not a scotch whisky, but there are no geographical restrictions in the definition of whisky. Why wouldn't you be able to make it anywhere in the world?
The Japanese certainly DO know how to make amazing whisky. If you judge it on its origin I'm afraid all you really are proving is that you have nothing but a layman's understanding about good whiskies.

Maybe all uk whiskey will have to have Japanese and Japanese formula etc …Maybe all uk whiskey will have to have Japanese and Japanese formula etc written on it to sell in uk . When i was abroad all uk whiskey was highly considered . Come home and uk whiskey has no value in favour of one from abroad which has no character or history. These are the times . I love Japanese Matcha tea but i would not spend any money on their newly found unknown whiskey.

What a ridiculous extrapolation to basically say that domestic whisky must be bad because the Japanese stuff is good. Suggest also you look at how long the Japanese have been making whisky, they didn't start yesterday. I love whisky from Scotland, whiskey from Ireland, bourbon, as the Japanese stuff. As with anything there will be good and bad examples, and things to appeal to different tastes and audiences. So what?!

Nice
Yeah has anyone tried it? It’s at that price where you would take a gamble....not really sure when they say to use it as a mixer though? Please post if any are in Tesco stores in the north west

I love hibiki and at this price I'm sceptical £17.50 must be a wrong price.. I'd take the risk

I'd say it's either a mistake, or an introductory price, as you can't get it below £30 delivered anywhere online (let alone Tesco online where it's £35)
Japanese Whiskies are very on trend and have been rising in value over the last few years faster than gold. I have not tried this one but out of the ones I have tried they have been very good.

Sounds like a price error but if you can get a Japanese Whisky at this price I would dive in there which is what I will be doing if it’s available when I visit Tesco tomorrow.

It definitely is at a price where most whisky drinkers would take a gamble. If you think that's a high price for whisky, you may not be used to drinking good whisky 😄

I've got to stop buying Whisky, last week it was a bottle of Paul John Brilliance Indian Single Malt (Indian? Gasp!) reduced to clear in M&S, and today this Japanese Whisky and a bottle of reduced to clear Jim Beam Red Stag for £12...I'm running out of places to hide them!

Sure red stag is bourbon :/

Haha, Jim Beam is a Whiskey, not sure Red Stag really qualifies as a Whiskey in its own right due to the cherry shenanigans, but close enough!
Certainly worth a punt if you can find it. Japanese Whisky can be very rich and dignified; and as someone already mentioned are very popular at the moment...so no need for bigotry.

Must admit I do love it hahaha
Such a nice looking bottle, I wouldn't even need a brown paper bag for this

Maybe you should be living in Japan or China then . Some people here like touting things from abroad because no one knows anything about them .

So what?!

You make no sense. What's citizenship got to do with which whiskies are good or bad. Seriously you are delusional.

There are things Japan is famous all over the world, like its cars , trains and tea. But certainly not for its whiskey. But i have met several English people in London who are wedded to the country once they have been there on working holiday or as English teacher . I have no such infatuation for Japan or Japanese made or Japanese packed whiskey.
