sorted byI haven't tried a new fork in quite a few years, but air forks used to be vastly better than coil. Maybe worth buying if one's fork broke down and he/she needs a cheap replacement.
Cheap forks always were rubbish
Until a few years ago coil forks were much better for DH, airforks for XC(due to the weight)
The XCR forks of this thread I believe are the best forks from Suntours high volume factory in mainland China I think. Suntours above the XCR I think are made in the high end factory in Taiwan along with the other brand forks they make as a OEM supplier. I can never remember if its Fox or Rockshox but some of those are made by Suntour for them.
A recent youtube video showed the appalling quality of one of the factories BMC use (despite calling themselves the Bicycle Manufacturing Company they have no factories themselves). Absolutely appalling frame quality and BMC went far too cheap for the factory on this occasion. Pretty much garbage. That's the issue with a brand slap you never know which factory is being used, it's a lottery.
