Before anyone trashes this, if you want a CHEAP 8GB USB stick with CHEAP performance please look elsewhere.

This is an extremely HIGH peerformance USB Pen Drive which is available at a very good price. It offers speeds of +30Mb/s read and +20MB/s write. Random Access times are also very fast. Anyone that has used an ordinary USB stick knows how tiresome it is waiting for large files, or many small files to copy. This really does speed things up nicely. I will attach my own performance graph below.

The device itself is very durable. It is surrounded by rubber and I am sure you can bounce it of walls without damaging it.

This is the fastest performing device in it's price range. I know, I spent days trawling the web for reviews and stats.

As promissed, here is the performance graph (perfomed on my EEE PC 1000H so may be even faster on a desktop).

Please post links to an alternative device f there is a better deal to be had

Nice find and post. Can't believe how the prices have come down in the last few months.
Roll on usb3 as well.

Seems some people are voting cold without being brave enough to give a reason:oops: If you have useful information please be kind enough to supply it

I suppose you wouldnt know if it is possible to flip the bit in this one do you?
thks

Voted cold as it's available from DVD.co.uk for £16.02 delivered

Has actually gone up in price a bit from when I bought mine a couple weeks ago from this thread...
]http//ww…iv/.

The stick itself though is amazingly fast, plus comes with some decent extras (although I cut the white lanyard off the black clip connector is ideal for attaching to a keyring).

Interesting - I was looking for another flash drive today; link's broken blue2moro.

Going by the screenshot above it's about 20-25% faster than a £9.99 SanDisk Cruzer Micro (non-U3).

Perhaps vote cold when you find it in stock and cheaper:).

Just for you. Luckily I have both drives (I upgraded to the Patriot because Sandisk write speeds were too slow for large files).
*Patriot is 25% faster at reading
*Patriot is over twice as fast writing.

I also tested writing a 4GB HD Video file. Patriot took 2mins 26secs and Sandisk took 5mins 11secs to transfer exactly the same file. I guess if you do not copy files frequently then the Sandisk is the better buy. If you are impatient or require frequent use (like me) go for the Patriot.

£17.95 Delivered - AND 10% quidco!

Actually gary_rip, just for you mind - you can use the 15% off code in conjunction with another small purchase (1GB MicroSD or something) and it'll be less than £17.99. You did forget to mention the delivery charge :).

Oh and you can also get Quidco but you have to be savvy.

You have to find it in-stock and cheaper (including shipping).

I voted cold on the basis that I bought it over a month ago for £15 DELIVERED. I understand of course that this is probably the best deal for the stick at this particular moment, but personally I'd wait a while for it to come back in stock & possibly back down in price at DVD.co.uk.

Not sure whats up with that link, do a search of the site for "8gb patriot" & you'll see the thread I mentioned earlier.

These have been this price for a while. Got one a few months ago.

Just to reiterate what I said above.

You can buy this + 1gb MicroSD card (or something else) for less than £17.99 @ MemoryBits with the 15% off voucher, qualifies for free delivery.

Whilst the deal might not be hot I'm glad you posted it otherwise I wouldn't have known about this particular drive :).

I guess if you need a 1GB MicroSD card then this is the better deal. I have shopped many times with Play and I'm happy to use them, but I have no personal experience of MemoryBits (this does not make them a poorer choice - just an unknown for me).

Either way, you cannot buy a faster 8GB USB drive for around the £17.99 price mark. This is a great tool.

That's the reason I tend to stick with the bigger etailers (Amazon, Ebuyer, Play, Dell etc). They tend to have very good prices and reasonable customer service. It is sometimes worth paying a few pence more.

Quick follow-up, received mine today and so far I'm quite impressed .

A quick test (fat32) shows a write / read speed of 17.7 MB/s & 29.2 MB/s.

8019509248 bytes (8.0 GB) copied, 383.651 s, 20.9 MB/s

Just to update it's now £15.50 here:
