Mario heads for the stars once more in this fully-fledged sequel to Nintendos outstanding Super Mario platformer.

Though many of the key elements that made Super Mario 64 an instant classic remained intact, Super Mario Galaxy was a huge departure for the platforming series, taking Mario away from his Mushroom Kingdom roots and into the far reaches of space. With such a rich new environment now ready to explore, Super Mario Galaxy 2 provides a rare Mario sequel that expands on the gravity-defying gameplay of the original.

The biggest addition to this Galaxy sequel is the introduction of Marios dinosaur sidekick, Yoshi. Once freed from the eggs scattered across select levels, players can use Yoshi to snatch items, swing across gaping chasms and swallow enemies whole. New Mario power ups include the Spin Drill, which allows players to tunnel through each miniature planet level and work their way through to its other side. Each new planet Mario darts between contains its own original enemies, environments and gravity-driven platforming.

With Mario sequels few and far between, Super Mario Galaxy 2 is a rare treat for platforming fans, expanding on the originals ideas with the care and attention Nintendo is known for.

My most anticipated game of the year so far, and a good price.

hope ESPAL Wii get onto this quickly

Not only that but you may get this delivered on release day or possibly a day early as is the case with quite a few Tesco Entertainment preorders :-) H+R added

Holy crap I forgot this was out so soon!!! Just over 3 weeks, I wasn't expecting this till mid-late July! Definitely gonna have to get this on launch day!

Do i need this, not even got round to playing Super Mario Bros yet!

GAME are giving away a limited edition Mario Money Tin with all pre-orders of this title, if anyone there is interested in such collectables. Unfortunately they have put the price up to £34.99 (it was £29.99 when I ordered) but with Quidco and Double Reward points, it works out at about £30 still.

I got my New Moon DVD that i'd pre-ordered.... FIVE DAYS after release, from Tesco Entertainment. Even worse when I emailed them 3 days after release about it I got a reply saying they'd not investigated until 14 days after release date arrived... but luckilly it arrived. Eventually. So I'd not say they were the best for pre-orders from my experience lol.

BUT hot deal though! What with my boyfriends staff discount another 10% off!! Wow!

Went thru Quidco in the hope I will also get a further 8% cashback... fingers crossed!

Is that offer in-store as well? I've got a ton of trade-in credit which can only be used in-store.

I don't know, sorry - T&C state: UK ONLY. Limited Offer while stocks last. Customers who have already preordered this product will also receive the bonus item. Your limited edition money tin will be posted to you with your preorder of Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Ordered, good deal. It took ages to find the original at a decent price. Very few places had it stocked at all. As per normal Wii related things, I expect it to be hard to find when released.

On that note, I can't believe how well New Super Mario Bros Wii has held its price. It is still near enough impossible to find it for under £30, 6 months after release!

The original is easily one of the best games on the Wii.

I'll probably pick this one up when it gets a bit cheaper, the girlfriend loved playing the first one We completed it 100% together (AWWWWW!)

Triple A Wii releases are few and far in between so they hold their value stupidly well. Twilight Princess, a launch game, should be no more than £10 now, but good luck finding it under £25.

it can't just be that.. there's no way near as many folks are buying a launch date game now, I really think there must be some price fixing going on (even if it's only very careful supply limiting - not accusing anyone of anything illegal). every other system old stuff always eventually goes in the bargain bin or gets the "classic" or "platinum" treatment (lower price, worse packaging). Nintendo are not immune from normal the laws of supply and demand. so how do they do it? i say this as a ninty fan too. maybe they just refuse to reduce wholesale prices because they think it's a slippery slope and would rather sell fewer units and maintain a perceived quality. if so, that's not a bad move because more and more gamers are getting older and wising up to the rapid price drops on most titles. i don't know, it's bizarre. would love to hear from any retailers or distributors who deal with Nintendo.

just the number of copies in circulation (traded 2nd hand) of a game like Twilight Princess, which has an end, ought to be enough to almost kill new sales.

sorry to go OT.. the upshot of this is you probably might aswell preorder this game (if you're not going to pirate it) because it's unlikely to drop in price soon.

Now I have to decide whether the tin at GAME is worth the extra £5 or not...hmmmm.

Nice spot OP.

Just had my 8% Topcashback track on this so £27.36 in total

Probably worth it if you have the New Super Mario Bros tin. That wasn't a pre-order bonus, but came in a limited edition set which was £44.99 on the GAME website originally, so you're getting this one much cheaper, plus I've seen the NSMB tin sell on eBay on it's own for over £20, but somehow I doubt this tin will be as rare.

Great price. ..well worth £30 (hell ..compared to most games it's worth £100).

Galaxy 1 is about as good as gaming gets.

I'm pretty sure that's what they do (certainly in regards to their A list francises). Frankly more companies should do the same.

Everyone expects games to half in price in a couple of weeks these days. A very dangerous business strategy to have. Game publishers have given retail too much power in recent years.

Yep, just ordered it with the tin. This June will be great-my studies will be over, I can enjoy this surely wonderful slice of gaming, as well as the small matter of the best sporting competition in the world. Excelllllleeeeeennnnnntttttt.

Zelda still goes for about £20 second hand on Ebay so I don't think they are false prices. Nintendo games have always held their price for some reason. Maybe people are more inclined to hold on to them rather than sell/trade then?!?!?

You'd be suprised. Zelda still ranks in the top 40 in GfK chart track for Wii.

One glance at Metacritic shows that the Wii has 10 titles scoring above 90% average. Go to the 360 or PS3 and they have triple the number of titles scoring above the 90% threshold. This means demand is spread out between a lot of games so they have to lower prices to keep sales up. Meanwhile, there's very little competition for the money in the Wii market. If you own a Wii, and you're an informed gamer, there's not many games you'll be interested in buying. Hence, high demand for a select few titles.

Just ordered from Game. The tin'll look good next to the NSMB & Zelda tins. Yammas

Can anyone suggest the best pre order place to get this, with the emphasis on getting it early rather than cheap? A shop with a reputation of sending things out before the release date would be good?

It's hard to say. I would suggest Amazon, because they have been good for me in the past. However, all of these retailers have their little preorder hiccups now and again.

Order with Game, Gameplay or Gamestation and it should defintley be with you on Thursday.

ShopTo.net is a good bet too, while Play.com can be hit or miss.

Btw, every copy of the game will include a DVD which includes guides and tips on how to find the game's 240 stars, similar to the in-game guide included in New Super Mario Bros.
