You can still play it portable with the Switch on its stand and the joy-cons detached - desktop mode. I guess most of the content relies on you doing weird and wonderful things with the joy-cons, which is why "normal" portable mode and the pro controller aren't supported.

The game just wouldn't work as handheld device. You need to have the joycon in your hand, similar to the Wii remote for all the Wii Mario Party games

Voted hot, good price for the game on its own. As much as I wanted this on release I’m going to wait for the joy-con bundle as that seems better value.

I have the base.com pre-order for just under 40 with delivery. As I don't live near a Smyth's and would need to pay bus fare, I'll stick with Base. Good price though, heat added.

Anyone got any ideas on cheap joycons? I'm assuming you're going to want at least 2 sets for this for 2-4 players (normally I used old xbox controllers with adaptors).
Gonna be collecting from smyths as I need to guarantee I get it day one, and cancelling my online preorder.

Unfortunately you are going to need to buy another set of joycons which will coincide with the ones that came with the console for you to play 1-4 player.
