Super Smash Bros. Wii U Bundle £60.00 @ Gamestop

At this time I cannot quite confirm if this bundle does entirely come with the USB adapter to use the GameCube controlling, but supposedly it does due to in the US it'll be retailed like it for $99.

For £60 you would be getting the following:
£30 - game
£20 - adapter
£10 - controller

So all in all spending £60 for it is quite a great deal, except I still have yet to receive a confirmation if this comes with the USB adapter (it should otherwise why would they include a GameCube controller that requires it and people want it day one?).

If GameStop confirms that they're only including the game + controller I will remove this deal as it wouldn't be really much of a deal like that.

well the picture on the box definitely shows 'controller + adapter'
Well they show the adapter in the pictures and is highly unlikely they would pack in the controller without it.

That is quite true guys, but they wrote in bold that it comes with one controller (wouldn't be logical since it'd be unusable without the adapter).

i know that would be like selling a handheld without the charger.................oh wait
It comes with the adapter.

was just looking at the game pads on amazon for just under £20. also have the amiibos for a tenner.
Unsure what to do now!?!
my son has asked for this for christmas, is there an actual release date yet for the game?
Here's the link for the gamepads btw

Donta @ GameStop themselves need to confirm if it does, although we all expect it to be as we've seen from US retailers.

Brummie @ That GameCube controller you connect to your Wiimote, and these ones are wired that you connection the USB adapter. I had a pre-order for that GameCube-Wiimote but I cancelled upon seeing this one.
Waiting for some sort of Amiibo pack still. The adapters will be sold seperately so hoping for a limited edition character of some description.

No release date yet although it is rumoured to be 21st of November.
I'm so confused! Sorry for the questions, but I want to make sure I get the right information before I buy anything.
So am I right in thinking if I buy just the game, you can only connect one of those controllers on amazon to the system?
And if he wants 4 players I need the adapter to use the new remotes and his gamecube remotes?

sorry meant controllers, not remotes :-/
Whether it's the wired NGC-USB controllers or the NGC-Wiimote controllers you can connect up to four, that of course, means you'll need to have the same amount required.

But Brummie, if you want the better package, accuracy and no lag then go with the NGC-USB controllers but the NGC-Wiimote is still an OK option.
Ok thank you so much!
I'll keep watching this feed then to see if you get an answer from gamestop.
I appreciate your advice. He's only 7, but so excited about this game coming out. So I want to make sure I do it right!

protip, ERSB is american and we have PEGI here (USK for german?). so discount anything with ESRB on as confirmation.
By Monday they should be able to confirm me whether it does or doesn't.

For £60 it's a bargain and it might increase so worth keeping an eye out for this bundle.

Hopefully with the coming of GameCube for Wii U this also means we're getting NGC titles on the eShop.
wait this bundle has been confirmed for EU? i dont remember seeing any news about that.
Just couldn't bring my self to order anything from gamestop ever again, still trying to contact their customer service for over 3 weeks and am yet to get any kind of reply from them. Still £80 out of pocket from the trades they have had from me. (sent recorded) worst company I have ever had to deal with IMO.
Not a terrible price, can see it dropping before launch though.

Hurry up and announce an Amiibo bundle pack Nintendo!
Why are people making a fuss about the GameCube controller? I loved that controller too, but is this the 'best' way to play Smash or something? Does it really make that much difference compared to an unwired counterpart?
Why the obsession with using a Gamecube controller? Can you not use the gamepad/nunchucks with the game?

I've emailed them to query this like a week ago and no one has come back to me with an answer.
As soon as I hear from them I'll post it here for you guys

Given previous experiences of Gamestop customer support I don't have huge hopes of this being honoured as I can't see it being £60.

Not in the sense of wholesale prices, that will have to wait until a future Nintendo Direct gives the game a release date (see Bayonetta 2). There is 0% chance it will be £60 either. I can see an RRP of £90 for the bundle and maybe even GAME exclusive (not a problem buying the parts separate could be less than £75).

Tournament players need a wired solution. When you have a room full of dozens on people playing you get loads of interference with wireless and there are also latency concerns to be had.

These same tournament players are probably going to conclude the game sucks after a few years and mostly go back to playing the Gamecube version in any case.
Can someone confirm exactly what these are. Will the adapter let me use all my old gamecube controllers (and I'll get a new one to boot) or is this some new wired connection and I'll need to buy four of these for four player?

Cheers.
Hows the order cancellation for gamestop because if it's going to be over £60 I may as well snatch this before it get sold out.

The adaptor is compatible with all GameCube controllers, even the wireless WaveBird. All your old controllers will work

ahh thats my fav controller & still have it today along with the silver coloured gamecube, but dunno if i acutally want this bundle or just to grab the game on its own
Nice to see the gamecube controller making a comeback
Has anyone tested this adapter yet? Is there any lag with the control? I vaguely remember there was a ps version to allow ps2 controllers to work on the ps3.....but had mixed results.
Team_A, this GameCube Wii U adapter is being released officially by Nintendo and they know how important it is for the gamers to have absolute accuracy and precision plus it's wired so it'll work perfectly with Super Smash Bros. Wii U.

Fingers crossed Nintendo's also got in mind NGC games for the eShop and allow us to use the GameCube controller for the Wii Mode! So much potential in this! ^_^
Gamestop.ie has this for 70 euros which translates to just under £55. Anybody know if they would deliver to an address in England for that price of if they are decent for deliveries?

When the gamecube controller came out it was panned quite a lot because it was considered too small for normal hands and even criticised for its ridiculous button shapes. Fast forward about 12 years and its a novelty thing for the nostalgia parade. Where would nintendo be without its broken bird stuck in the past fanbase?

Personally I love super smash and I am looking forward to this and will get it but this whole amiibo thing and this controller adapter thing is really sort of souring the experience for me. Maybe I am the only one.

I will be using the wii classic controller this with though which is much better than the stupid wired gamecube controller, wonder why no one else thought about that. Perhaps too sensible and easy an option and no one gets to feel special by doing things easy do they lol.

Best gamepad ever made pretty much..

Its the best if you talk about Nintendo only pads but in gaming overall the Gamecube's controller isn't great, in fact it frequents a LOT of "worst" game pad ever lists! (but is FAR from the worst!).

Back on topic, nice deal, I think I might grab this for a family member for Christmas. I wonder if it will work with my Resident Evil chainsaw controller!
£60, this includes a wiiu console?
This is still unconfirmed for EU release, but we can pretty much guarantee that it will be confirmed in a Smash Wii U direct next month. I would say that the RRP for this will be £79.99, so for £60 this is a good deal.
Fool or troll?
Will wait to see if a decent retailer sells this. Have no intention of buying from gamestop.
