Not a huge saving, but if you send lots of mail, well worth it

All 1st and 2nd class stamps will be valid after the increase - not just those bought from Superdrug.

not true ones that are marked 1st yes, ones that are marked 39p no

I'm guessing the large letter stamps will be 5% off aswell? These are going up by 8% in april so a big saving.

is it true what david brent says on the office that you can use stamps as if they were cash?

Sorry but its years since first and second class stamps actually had a price (eg 39p) printed on them! Theyve been makred either 1st or 2nd for years so that they can be used after any increases. Anyway - thats what I said in my post - all first and second class stamps will be valid after the increase! There arent any 39p price marked stamps in production anyway.

You are correct in so far as the ones marked as first/second go, I can't vouch for every stamp having that on them. BUT . . . .
These are also 2p cheaper at the moment, so this is a double whammy!

Agree - this is a good price. As mentioned in my previous post all first and second class stamps only ever have either 1st or 2nd printed on them (not a specific price).

I have voted your deal hot BTW!

These go up 2p every year! How do the royal mail mange to make a loss?

because they spend millions of pounds on compensation for lost/damaged letters and parcels

i wonder if nus students get 10% off that too i may have to try it, ive received it off magazines such as ok/new so im sure they do anyone tried this?

Don't think you can get student discount on them.

Excellent I'll sell them on eBay for 38p....I'll make a killing

But seriously, good if you want a couple of books - but like petrol prices it's only about 50p difference. Don't go 10 miles to your nearest Superdrug to save 2p a stamp.

we are also one of the worlds cheapest places to send a letter - still watched dispatches on monday night and its suprising we ever get any

Non Value Indicator stamps ie those that just say 1st or 2nd will be valid when the stamp increase happens, but all other stamps that state value are as price indicates.

legal tender, the realm

You might want to put the word stamps into your title, i was thinking "first class what? plane tickets? drugs?" LOL.

That's ridiculous, 41p, i remember when they were 28p or something (and no i'm not old, i'm only 23!).

I don't remember the last time i bought a stamp, my brother gets free ones for doing surveys and passes some on to my mum who passes some on to me!!

Anyway, heat added

OMG! this is a fantastic deal, I buy about 4 stamps a year, 2 first class and 2 second class, so I reckon this should save me 4p!
Brilliant, can't thank the OP enough for posting such a super deal..........................NOT.
Just wish people like this would leave HUKD alone and go back to writing letters to the Guardian or something equally as worthwhile.
Voted cold..............stone cold..............useless deal, not even worth the effort of posting.
Keep up the good work OP's who post deals where £10's if not £100's of pounds can be saved.
Numpties like this, kindly go away please.:whistling:

i post around 1000 letters / parcels a month so this is a massive saving but i already get it slightly cheaper for the bulk sales i do, still its a saving and is pretty siginificant

Also i believe you can 'cash' stamps back in at the post office, I wouldn't be 100% sure as they are not 'legal tender' as they're not produced by bank of england... Someone correct me if I'm talking nonsense please....H & R added. Ta.

You cant 'cash' stamps back in at the post office. Stamps are not legal tender.

Go and play in the playground.

Think, with the money saved we can all feed the birds, tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag...or we could have done if Ken Livinstone hadn't shot them all

This is definitely hot.

2p per stamp may not sound much, but a 5% saving on postage for a small business (like the charity I work for) is very significant. I'll be stocking up before the April increase.

Anyone willing to save a bit more can buy unfranked stamps on Ebay.

They are basically stamps that are not franked on envelopes so they can be used again. Someone will tell you its the crime of the century, but its harmess and itll save you quite a bit.

Am I missing something here?

If Superdrug can sell them at 5% off, does this mean some people somewhere are making money from us sending stuff? not just the RM, yes, I know 2p isn't a lot, but a book of 10 1st stamps is £3.70 not £3.90 as per at the local corner shop...

How on earth are people allowed to make a profit on something that we as a country pioneered? which the government owned until it sold it? So we pay, tax and someone still makes money? so in theory, the RM only get say 35p out of every stamp?

as soon as someone can come up with another RM that doesn't take us for fools and can deliver it's promises the better.. Come on Deutsche Post, pull your finger out, roll out your services all over the county so we can tell RM to go f*ck itself...

This country gets my goat sometimes, GRRR!

*rant over*

Well, first the shops have to make a small amount on the sale of stamps, otherwise it wouldn't be worth while stocking them.

Superdrug are probably selling these at or below cost, on the basis that people who go in for stamps might buy other (more profitable) things at the same time.

verybigchris;7809786

Indeed, called a loss leader. Much like the BOGOF's in supermarkets - obviously they don't make double profit on those items when they are full price - they are willing to accept the loss.

2p is not huge, but 4p is twice as much, and as I never tire of saying, you can get another 2.5% off by registering an account and a payment card (credit or debit) on sites such as Free Fivers or Greasypalm & paying by that card. They call it 'offline' cashback.

Random replies to some of the comments here;

If the deal is not for you, why are you reading it? I don't eat meat or drink alcohol, does it mean I should report poor comments on those listings? Really silly comments

Franked stamps technically cannot be re-used. However, I've always re-used ones that come to my home unstamped with no issues, but buying a whole load of them is asking for trouble. That said I did 'watch' a couple of auctions on eBay for these - the savings were so minimal, its just silly (like a lot of 2nd hand stuff on eBay - worth waiting for sale and buying for about same price for a brand new item).

Superdrugs offer 5% off on 1st large standard and large. That will be near 20% after the April increase on large stamps, not bad! Pity they never do 5% off on 2nd Class Stamps.

Royal mail delivers everywhere in the UK for a very low price. There is no profit for the organisation on delivering letters. Personally I am happy that the company is British. I hear that in Germany the trains run on time and that ranting is very popular ...you might like it there.

I appreciate it can be midly useful for business use, but barely worth the effort for individual users.

Only £20 per 1000 letters anyway =/

I wouldn't vote it down, because it's not a "bad" deal, but it is stupidly hot in here for a tuppence saving.

It's a good deal and thanks to the OP for posting. My wife has a small business and uses a fair amount of stamps so the saving is significant.

Nice find
