Good package and good saving. Heat added.

i got this a while ago, from the hmv website, not quite sure how much it was, but it was £30 at the most, possibly even £25.

that equates to a cold from me, i'm afraid.

me too. i have to watch all the extras, listen to all commentaries, etc, before i can move them from the 'unwatched shelf' to the 'watched shelf'. that's also why i've got about 400 unwatched movies, & the pile just keeps getting bigger, lol.

i just checked, mine is the 14 disc region 1 version, although i certain i got it from the hmv uk site. apologies to the poster for 'colding'.

also, if you should get this set, check the superman 3 disc. it should have loads of extras, but several copies got out with just the movie, nothing else.

Got this at full price when it 1st came out - worth every penny for me. Superman 1, 2 and 2DC are gems, 3 and 4 are OK, and Returns was pesh. But No matter how bad the films got, Reeve was awesome in that role, and very under-rated.

£40 for 5 DVD movies.... It feels like I've gone back in time

Wow - Big price for 5 movies - and cheaper elsewhere...........brrrrr.........

Lovely Superman set. I had it at full price and worshipped until an ex girlfriend threw it out.

5 Movies - 2of which are Special Editions that are unavailable outside this set and the Christopher Reeve Collection and 2 exclusive to this set documentaries that are about 3 hours long in total. Hardly cold.

You are quite correct - I bought this a few months back for less.

This maybe the cheapest at the moment, but it's been a lot cheaper in the past.

you couldnt have gotten the 14 disc R1 version from hmv in uk, not possible

i got this set from cd-wow (the region 3 version which is identical it the UK one but no nasty bbfc ratings) for around £30 and its a super deal.

£40+ is pushing it, but they are all great collectors versions plus the 2 documentaries are very good, movie like in quality plus there is a rare bonus movie superman vs the moleman from the 50s, there is some cartoons from WB, the pilot of Superdog and the entire 13 episode run of the max fleischer cartoons. and this is all in a great digistack with hoographic cover and embossed tin. great package.

i'm not sure which is the extra disc, but i know that all discs are packed full of extras, (just make sure to check your disc for superman 3. it should have commentaries, deleted scenes, etc. if it doesn't, check this address for details of getting a replacement - supermancinema.co.uk/dai…asp

OVERALL: R1Includes an extra disc with Bryan Singer's Video Journals for … OVERALL: R1Includes an extra disc with Bryan Singer's Video Journals for Superman Returns.Notes: The original pressing of the R1 release had a number of problems: the Superman III disc was the old one and the soundtrack on the theatrical release of Superman: The Movie was the new remastered version instead of the original version. The R2 had problems with the vintage making of documentary running slow. Further details can be found on Superman websites such as http://www.supermanhomepage.com/news.phpand http://www.supermancinema.co.uk/daily_planet/dvd2006/2006_disc_issues_qa.asp

during my enthusiastic DVD collecting days, which ended a few months ago:roll:, I was trying to track down the R1 Tin boxset, but read the disc problems of the R1 release, and also the relatively high price for a DVD boxset, and with the advent of HD era, have now moved on to collecting HD discs, liked Superman but not a big fan, so not willing to shell out for much & gave up the hunt. (bought Superman 1&2 & Returns on HDDVDs from HMV for £3 each, I'm satisfied for now)

even thought this is a nice set, £40+ for a DVD boxset does seem like going back in time, still too expensive imo, would rather pay that for a BluRay set, unless you're a big fan then it's not really worth it.

As someone else suggested earlier, this WAS available for £25 at one point - that's certainly how much I paid. That said, this is about the best CURRENT deal, so heat added.

The OP doesn't do the set any justice really. There are WAY more than just 'five films' as some have suggested. In addition to the six films and two documentaries listed in the OP, there is also a B&W feature film from the original superman tv series era, full series of fleischer cartoons, and many other features, documentaries and snippets. If you like Superman, this is THE set to have - a truly fantastic set!
