Sound homework thanks for saving me the time.. HOT for all your hard work

I really want to purchas a few bttls while the deals are on, but there seems to be a lot of: Tesco specific, Sainsburys specific etc brands that iv never heard off; are any of them any good or just cheap pish that has an inflated retail price and were fooled into buying at xmas cause we think it's a good deal? Any advice on what is or isn't good would be well appreciated.

Etienne Dumont Brut NV Champagne 75cl is suppose to be quite a decent supermarket champagne...

Thanks.

I'm no champagne expert, but I've enjoyed the Etienne Dumont Brut NV Champagne (Sainsbury's) before. The bubbles are really small, it tastes light and not too sweet or dry. Although it's been at £12 in Sainsburys earlier this year, I think £15.99 is still a good price for it imo.

That is brilliant info! Thank you!

The M & S Champagne is £15 a bottle in store and just £13.50 (10% off) if you buy any 6 wine/champagne.
M & S Prestige Cava is just £6.49 and according the the wife much better quality than Tesco or Sainsburys Cava.

Heat added - serious work to collect all that info!

Had 24 bottles of this last Christmas on the 2.88 glitch and it was very nice, in fact nicer than some of the cheap supermaket champagne

I believe Piper Heidsieck Brut 75cl is on offer at Morrisons at 12.49 a bottle for 1 more day.

nice one, good work, now time to try and figure what's the best value for your cash R

missed off the Iceland £4 for a magnum of champagne (or so it claimed)

Nice work, nicster.

Looking forwards to the sparkling rosé thread.

yeah, those were the days
unfortunately they fixed that by replacing the 2 for £xx with save £2

We've had the tesco finest champagne several times and that's nice. We'll be getting that at only £12.99 for def!

Nicolas Feuillate Brut Champagne 75Cl

This is a good brand which I have enjoyed before.

typical of "offers" - all overpriced then "reduced"

How many people actually like the taste of champagne? Or is it all about the aspirational pretensions of perceived wealth?...

I like it. Hand on heart though I have never dated a women that did. Most of them drank it because it was the thing to do though. Women are weird like that.

Nice work.
Have a gold star (and some heat).

P.S Your picture is a bit scarey though!

I can second that. If you prefer Champagne which isn't sweet and more on the dry side. We bought 6 bottles last time it was on offer and its kept the LP/Moet/Verve in the cupboard. Just seems to be very suited to our palate :-)

Thanks OP, we were waiting for the next deal to stock up.

P.S. This only applies if you intend to drink a glass or two. If you intend to drink a bottle go for the more refined stuff or something else. These are unfortunately the words of experience, drink too much and its like poison coming out.

Crap that there's never offers on Veuve Clicquot or Taittinger

Or "VERVE" as Mentos calls it.

At ~£30 the yellow label is pretty competitively priced IMO. Which probably explains why its rarely on offer.

Well, I really like both Champagne and cava (and my other half does). Neither of us could care less about aspirations or pretensions either. In fact, we only usually get it at supermarket prices, so often just end up drinking it at home in front of the telly, where nobody can see what we're drinking anyway!

m&s cava is better - after all produced the same way as champagne - just that champagne spend billions promoting their good product. But this is still a good deal for chaampagne although i think the lidl one is better.

Andre Carpentier Champagne Non Vintage 75Cl
Half Price Was £28.99 Now £14.49

This scanned at £12 at my local Tesco.

I bought 6 x bottles of Andre Carpentier from Tescos last week during the 25% off promotion....... With the £15 off voucher it all came in at £8.50 per bottle delivered.
Haven't tasted it yet, but it is one of brands like Etienne Dumond that regularly crops up in supermarkets. But the inflated RRP is bull.

THANK YOU!! you have saved me loads of legwork! heat added.
