i3 64GB is £639 (minus £100 cashback makes it £539) plus £25 off using o2 Priority Moments makes it £514.

Best deal around for non students who can't take advantage of the Microsoft Store student deal. MS Store non student price is £639 minus £100 quidco so not as good if you can use o2 Priority.

i5 128GB is £849 (minus £100 cashback makes it £749) plus £50 off using o2 Priority Moments makes it £699.

i5 256GB and i7 256GB also work out £50 cheaper than Microsoft Store non-student prices if you use both cashback and o2 Priority Moments.

o2 Priority is £25 off orders over £250, £50 off orders over £750.

Don't forget - if you're not a current o2 customer, you can get o2 priority easy if you order a free PAYG sim and have an unlocked handset. Insert the sim, activate it for free, and download the app over wifi so you don't have to top up.

But the i5 is already over £750 - you pay £849 in store before the £50 O2 discount. The cashback comes later, not at the checkout. Also O2 priority moments is instore only so no TCB.

Good catch - missed that one. Edited now, cheers.

I would also be cautious of the terms and conditions. Both the o2 offer and the cashback state they cannot be used with any other offer.

Thanks for the tip!

I have a Surface Pro 2 128GB so no real need for this but I will say it's a fabulously built tablet and a great tool on the move. The stylus is good for editing photographs and doing a bit of drawing and it's a very capable gaming device for its size. I often connect mine to my TV with a Mini DisplayPort adaptor and use a PS4 controller with it to play Skyrim - it's capable of better textures and smoother framerate than a PS3 and loads in a tenth of the time due to the SSD. Good all-round bit of tech, if a bit heavy next to ARM based tablets like the iPad Air.

The pen on Pro 3 blows the Pro 2 stylus out the water. So accurate, feels like writing with a quality pen on paper not a stylus on a screen.

Was playing Skyrim on a Pro 3 on Monday - awesome.

Despite Pro 3 being a larger device, it's actually lighter than the Pro 2 (800g vs 900g).

500£ for an i3? nah,i'll pass.

Great deal op, but Curry's Cashback is absolutely trash. I tried claiming £30 for a stove, and the website didn't work, customer support got us stuck in a loop going to various departments, and then they finally told us to wait 10 days for the money to reach my account. After that it didn't reach my account, and I called, and said the 28 days expired. I gave up...
Curry's are an atrocious company - sorry for my rant

Actually my experience with Currys cashback claims has been good - they use an outsourced service provider who handles this and I've used them 4 times over the last couple of years without a problem. I do appreciate that once something goes wrong ( and I've had my fair share at Currys/PC World) it is a nightmare to sort out !

Not good. Why did you give up - should have chased it. You'd have got it. My girlfriend bought a laptop in the last cashback period. Claimed online within the dates, got paid no problem. Smooth as silk.

Just so people know the process for cashback:

Not voted, as it's a good saving.

Still bit of a ripoff, especially when M$ has given away windows 8 on these devices for free and the don't get started on the bugs.

That's basically an i7 only issue....so nothing to be concerned about.
As for bugs - do you remember when Apple released that iPhone with a dodgy antenna assembly. They didn't replace the handsets - they just gave out bumper cases instead!
At least Microsoft are replacing defective devices (and will now presumably be working to find a solution).
Regardless, the overheating issue does not affect any of the devices we are talking about here

Yeah I remember that about the iPhone, used to make fun of my m8's by holding my phone at a particular angle.

I remember there was time when a particular HP model had overheating issues. The solution? They put a software fix to cripple the speed.

Freezing. Not an iPad and more expensive!

I think HP have taken a different approach in recent years. I bought a HP Probook that had a fan which stayed on permanently. It still ran hot! (I sold it after a couple of weeks....and I dare say it'll be my last HP device!)

Sadly this is actually true, thankfully in my case with a recent fault on a Canon, canon themselves sorted me out and very efficiently too. Currys totally ignored the legal position and washed their hands of it. Pretty bad actually, surprised they can still get away with this kind of thing in this day and age!
Basically unless you know you will get good manufacturer support as a failsafe (which to be fair you will from microsoft) then avoid the dixons group like the plague

Totally agree, now banned from local store fore being "difficult". Merely knew my rights and played their "difficult", "dishonest" and generally non PC tactics for 3 weeks just to get a Tegra Note 7 replaced, 3 months after purchase due to a faulty usb ocket.

Currys really KNOW HOW to PiXX you off.

It's worth knowing that NUS card holders can get the student discount directly from the MS website. I didn't have o2 moments but the student discount was cheaper than the Currys/PCWorld deal.

Good to know for the thousands of people who got the NUS graduate discount card recently on HKUD

Glad its not an iPad, this is actually useful. This is in a different league above the iPad, it truly is laptop technology in a tablet

The keyboard seems to be in-stock, I wonder if it is true?

Hope MS ship my keyboard soon, stuck using my old Type Cover 2 with my SP3.

A couple of years is very unlikely unless you hammer the device with charging and discharging cycles multiple times every day, although you will lose a few percent on the maximum charge of the battery with normal use. This is the same for all lithium-ion powered battery devices like phones, tablets and laptops.

Like most devices with a non-removable battery pack, you'd be left with a choice of having the battery replaced by a technician or doing it yourself if the battery needed replacing out of warranty.

My iPad seems seriously useful to me! And does not needs £100 keyboard as an extra!

I do like the look of the Surface 3, it has alot more flexibility in uses than any tablet or laptop and I'm considering buying one for the better half instead of an iPad Air (in either case will wait til next month for the new Apple devices to be unveiled before final comparison).

I do think it should be made clearer that the detachable keyboard cover is not included and weighs in at a hefty ~£100 extra. I think some people might assume it's included as it's advertised so often with it.

My only other major concern is using it as a tablet for longer periods of time as it weighs double that of the iPad Air, so doesn't make sense being used as a hand-held tablet for primary use. Other than that it really is the most flexible device on the market in that price bracket and has a better specification than any of it's rivals.

You don't need a keyboard with any of the Windows based tablets but it does make them far more useful, Office programs on touch screens are real hard work and there are still websites that don't work well on touchscreen, such as Currys.co.uk which I tried a few days ago.

The pen is something I wish they got right with the SP1 and 2. Why use a plastic nib instead of rubber! I never use it because of this as it scratches the screen.
