This is the latest offering from Suunto, possibly the most accurate GPS and now integrated wrist HR monitor. I've had the Ambit 3 Peak for a while but have upgraded to this.

Cheapest I can find elsewhere is £369 - when I was in the Barcelona Marathon Expo last month they said this would retail at almost 600 euros!

Having used most GPS watch brands and lots of models in-between, I find this more comfortable and intuitive than the rest (albeit I haven't use the Fenix 5 but hey thats a hell of lot more money!)

It is on back order but they are expecting a new delivery on 25 Apr.

Suunto Spartan Sport Wrist HR All Black
The Suunto Spartan Sport Wrist HR All Black is a sports specific version of the Suunto Spartan with an integrated optical heart rate monitor.

The Spartan Sport Wrist HR features the great looking colour touch screen of the Spartan which not only gives a great visual presentation of the data recorded during your training but allows for easy control much more akin to using a smart phone than a watch. It does still have 3 buttons which are used as in-action controls. It also includes Bluetooth connectivity to allow it to connect with a smart phone. The Sport is also a bit slimmer than the Ultra, so it will sit a bit more comfortably on smaller wrists, the downside to this is that the battery is smaller so it won't last as long as the Ultra. The glass mineral crystal glass, the bezel and buttons are steel and the Silicone strap is black with a black buckle.

The addition of an integrated industry leading Valencell PerformTek optical HR monitor offers convenient daily heart rate monitoring without the need for a chest strap. Useful if you prefer running without a chest strap or for 24/7 heart rate monitoring for accurate recovery measurement. For more demanding conditions when you will be wearing the watch over clothing or while swimming the Spartan Sport Wrist HR is still compatible with Suunto's Smart Sensor.

The Sport Wrist HR hold on to nearly all the sports features found on the Ultra with only the bike and swim lapping features missing some of the training logbook features only available to view on Movescount rather than the watch itself. As with the Ultra it comes with a set of predefined sports modes which you can select for your chosen activity so the watch records the specific data set for that sport. This will be fully customisable with a future software update so you can create new sports modes if there isn't a preset which has everything you need. The Smart Training Insights functions allow you to see in detail where you are performing well and where your performance could be improved.

I managed to get the Garmin Fenix 5 for 390 from Blacks (They price-matched Amazon when it was on sale for 434 and gave an extra 10% off)

They should price match this as well and give you an extra 10% off. Try giving them a call tommorow morning. Although they don't have a black one in stock, so it might not work...

Depends what you call a hell of a lot more. Got my Fenix 5 for £385 from Amazon.fr and Blacks were price matching plus 10% off for £390 from Amazon.uk a few days ago.

That being said , I actually returned the Fenix 5 in favour of my 3HR. Id be interested to compare the Suunto as I was always a fan until I went Garmin.

It's a tough one - I liked Garmin, even to the point where I would swear by my 405 (now I think I was just swearing at it!). I had a 235 but its HR monitoring was shocking - 182 bpm constantly on an easy run meant time for replacement.
Thats a great deal. I have been looking at the titanium ultra for about £100 more with HR strap. I was just worried that I would scratch the large face on the mineral glass of the sport version. It looks a brilliant watch in either version. This price is more realistic though. Thanks
You also get 10% credit as points to use off your next order with Facewest
This is also available new from Amazon.fr & .de for about £325 or warehouse like new for £305
Also white or pink version from Amazon.es for £295

Think you're looking at the Spartan Sport HR not the Wrist HR - their price for this is around £380

I've had the ambit3 peak with the mineral glass up in the Himalayas around rocks etc. Banged around on the bezel but no marks on the glass. They are still young to mark
