Hot because I love SVP. Never had a bad experience, quite the opposite. Hopefully this new line won't cause them any problems.

The spec is not up to much on these machines, but neither is the price
Hmmm ... ok. Hot.

MikeT are there any other good Dell re-sellers?

Good deal, good company. Hot.

I second this.

If you dont mind scratches then dell themselves on bay ;-)

It's a pity they couldn't have got these without the 3 year warranty and passed the savings on the customers.

I would rather go for the current £364 1501 offer and get a new one!

What is Dell's trading name on eBaY?

There are some who are happier with a 3yr warranty so its best to try and please everyone. Most dell refurbs are just units that have been built and sent out only to be returned without being used or even never left the factory cancelled orders, so for most they can if you pick wisely, represent a nice saving and sometimes a bonus of a long nbd warranty too.

mcscom..... the best of them all... even MikeT has purchased a Dell from them ;-))))))

what's mcscom?

see mcscom.co.uk... Search on this website... I've posted a few before... From time to time, Mark, the site's owner give £50 cash discount on selected systems.

itcsales do cheap Dell's

This guy, Mark on MSCOM does not give me info on this laptop's battery saying Dell never told him how many cells it is yet all it requires is for him to take out thr battery and tell me.

I would be a bit nervous of buying from itcsales, they had a nice range of cheap dells available some time ago and I posted the deals, read the members posts before buying from them.

And that requires him to open a sealed by dell box, after which you may not buy and he has an open box to sell. Take it that the unit has a standard size small battery and if it turns out bigger you have a bonus.

ITCsales.... hmmm, they have very nice parts bargains although you have to factor in stock and p&p. You have to dig deep in order to get computers in stock

Thx for the pointer MikeT but the thing is the laptop is an Inpiron 6400 so i want it to be a 9 cell but i have a bad felling that it will be a 6 cell which i dont want and it will be too expensive to upgrade. I would buy of Dell but the 6400 has a dedicated graphics card which i want that Dell dont offer anymore so im stuck in the middle now as both the MSCOM and Dell laptops are good but i dont know which one to choose

looking now and there doesn't seem to be any great offers

Edi posted a coupon for 5% off at SVP I just tried it and it works on the dell kit so with that and Quidco the prices are droping nice ;-)

Would it be possible to buy refurb Dell laptops direct from Dell more cheaply?

You also need to buy and install you own operating software on top of that as at MCS if it dosen't mention windows it dosen't come with it plus vat and delivery so maybe not so good?

Wouldn't the dell identifier code give them all that info?

ALL cheapy laptops out of stock only a XPS available at £699

I got a nice E521 Athlon 64 X2 4400+ (DPC-CR485) with XP and 3yr Dell on-site warranty for £336. Minus another 3% for Quidco takes it down to £325ish. Nice piece of kit, they have added a few items since I looked last.

BTW, I forgot to include the 'svpjuly' code for another 5% off. I raised a ticket and was immediately refunded £16.93
Now THAT is customer service. Unlike some of the greedy corporate shysters I could mention :whistling:

Good to hear

I looked last week and there was virtually zero stock, but today there's about 20 different specs to choose from. The prices seem good for the spec, but when you factor in the included 3 year warranty this looks like a good deal.

The 3yr warranty is worth a one-er alone. You are getting a midrange PC for a couple of hundred pounds if you take advantage of Quidco, the HUKD discount and the svpjuly code
I hooked mine up to my old Hansol 900P CRT at 1280x1024 res. It runs flawlessly. Just remember to uninstall all the OEM crap ...

]PC Decrapifier

I just looked at the ]PC Decrapifier link. I thought it was a joke at first, but then I noticed it led to an actual ]http//pc…com domain.

Excellent idea:)
