This one when it was £799 Will be more than adequate for my 8 year old anyway, so no Biggie if I can't get better

Which msi did you go for? You are right very disappointed with the deals so far!

No, nothing worth returning my msi for anyway, was hoping for some better deals today but not looking likely!

You found anything yet? I noted the dell outlet site removed all their G series laptops yesterday!!

Do consumer right act effects ex display? Surly it still has to be fit for purpose for a reasonable amout of time? Not saying thats right, just my thinking....

If you know of a deal for a laptop that has USB C and warranty (even 3 months) for £249 or less, please share.

The 3 month SVP warranty on refurbs and ex-demos, no matter what they cost, really annoys me. They must have so very little faith in their stock, and just want to shift units then forget about them.

HUKD is fickle, but absolutely spot on in this case.

Ebay is full of old laptops . Choose your pick with ebay codes . I bought a 15 inch 4gb Chromebook for only £100 with PAYDAY yesterday.

I received mine. But as it arrived with 3 light scratches on the lid, I took it back to the shop in person and got a instant refund. The shop is only about half hour drive luckily

Never received. Be warned worst company ever complete waste of time and now just waiting on refund Avoid

Hi did anyone received this laptop? If yes please comment on the quality, any scratches or damage?

One has been sitting in DPD depot apparently and not been scanned ? As I'm told . But they did assure me that it is A+ condition as I ordered. They did say if DPD cannot locate or deliver by Friday then they will re send another out as they are expecting more stock on Friday

Im not sure. I'm wondering how much difference there can be when they only charge another fiver. I don't know what to do. I'm in the same boat as you.

I think it is good deal for the specs, not sure if it is graded A or B as they have a seperate listing for B grade i think Let me know your thoughts on this

It depends on the manufacturer. HP will honour it for example. No clue on Acer.

Judging by some of the discussions you have on here I'd say it's unlikely it's small change for you

Small change for me

That'll probably be like £3,000 (lol)

Is it just me or should "display model" always be read as customer returns that look good enough to describe as a display model. I mean if any of the thousands of display models being sold on the web as display models were real surely they would still have some manufacturers warranty?

Update: mine arrived a little later than I thought because of the Easter Weekend. It came in the original packaging and while clearly shows signs of use, all the components are in good condition. The only real problem was one of the controller's touchpad was all mushy and didn't even register a click but when I called SVP about this they offered to send me another controller which is absolutely fine. The wall mounts were also missing but at this price, I really don't mind that. I've picked up a set of 3 from Amazon for ~£8 and all is well. Great service from SVP in this case.

Anyone else here take the plunge on this? Mine is due for delivery Tuesday, I'll be sure to post back with some info on condition/packaging etc but would be interested in others' experience too.

U class processor, longer battery life but I'd go for HQ for games plus the 950 is getting on a bit now its rather battery thirsty. You won't get an 8th generation with half decent graphics for this price.

Please can everyone stop commenting about this deal, there's a far more important discussion about disk speed going on.

I have this laptop and its so heavy don't recommend for school or carrying anywhere gave me crazy back pain when in my bag

I get what you are saying - especially about the prefetch. It was more about how slow it appears to be, after moving to Win 10 after using Win 7 on the same system and the apparent lack of performance thereafter. I just don't understand why it takes a good 5 seconds to open a calculator app, when previously, it was almost instantaneous? Seems to be an issue with Windows 10 in general. It's very apparent that under (my experience of) Windows 10 the initial load is far longer than it used to be. example here: Way back in the day (1995/96) we had a computer at work that ran an AMD 486 @ 90Mhz, that little computer was so fast and snappy it was unbelievable (it mainly ran MS Office applications). One day we decided to check diskdefrag and it was 97%

Initially when an application is launched it will parse the associated prefetch file (.pf) from the windows\prefetch folder. If you look in there you will see a file named for each application that has been executed. The purpose of this file is to "prefetch" the minimal required amounts of code to allow notepad (as our example) to run. The prefetch file then tells Windows how to load notepad with the least amount of disk reads (superfetch will further co-locate data on same parts of the disk to expedite application load). This is performing cold reads into memory (the slowest part of your computers operation), which is why its slow - but that "slowness" is dictated by your disk speed primarily (you mention photos, this is disk speed + GPU capability). Should you immediately close notepad after it had opened, and then reopen - it would be quick, because the required code is now in memory and doesn't need to be paged back in (the structures would only be immediately paged out in a low memory scenario). So, straight back to disk speed - it is likely you have a slow disk, although these are a few things that you could check: - Check the disk type and speed first, if you have a slow disk this will be the bottleneck that will never go away. In fact, over time, performance will get worse as the in-built optimisation routines fail to run etc. - Defragment - Overlooked, auto scheduled by the system but is actually rarely executed. This also optimises the boot routines. - Delete the prefetch folder and allow it to recreate. This will not improve performance, actually it will slow it down first of all - but it ensures the .pf's are cleanly recreated in the instance of corruption - Check superfetch is running properly (SSD's auto-disable this, but doesnt sound like you have one) The no nonsense, cut straight to the root cause way would be to run performance monitor, or the windows performance toolkit during normal operation to work out where delays are occuring. In reality my money would be on it being a simply issue of laptop performance not meeting your requirements. I haven't mentioned memory, if you have a low amount of RAM the machine will spend lots of time performing hard page faults as it copies data to and from the disk to memory. If you have a sufficient amount of RAM this will not happen. You can check this very easily by confirming the amount of hard faults the system is performing.

Yes, unfortunately 1GB ram does not cut the mustard these days, 2Gb minimum IMO. Stutters and freezes will make it a pain to use day to day so it will quickly end up at the back of a drawer. Best saving your money to invest in a device with a longer useful life.

I've run into issues on my Yoga Tab 3 being unable to download iPlayer content for offline viewing. Also heard others struggling with Amazon prime. Great tablet but running out if road for media on a commute.

Ya my partners boy had the smaller older version of this battery was amazing and did him well for ages (prob still would if they would update the software)

Yeah. Got two of these for the kids... great

I prefer the design of these yoga ones with the built in stands and good battery life. And for me the ram is fine for casual internetting...

This phone will never lag, like yours will in a few days/weeks/months after you bought it. The Rear Design is unique, and good in my opinion. The Software will destroy your S8's software.

I though that... Until yesterday, when my uncle brought the one he has over. It's a really nice phone, and looks compact the bezels aren't nearly as bad as made out. The screen may be a bit small for some, though (at 5")

Previous S8, S8+ and Note 8 owner. I've had two S8s, two S8+ and two Note 8s since they launched, because I kept convincing myself that they must be amazing because of the hype - and indeed they are lovely objects. Each time I was disappointed with the cameras, the biometrics, the overall performance and in the case of the Note 8, the old security updates (mine was 5 months out of date when I sold it last week and the BTU model has still not been updated). Not knocking Samsung as a lot of people get on great with them, and their hardware is obviously very good quality. I basically offered my mint Note 8 (direct from Samsung) for a Pixel 2 though and no one came forward - so maybe those bezels are a decent trade off for the software experience, fast updates, camera and customer service.

Totally agree Pure Android or androidOne is the way forward. After all many of us have banking app and monthly security updates are essential.

Couldn't agree more. I know Note 8 and S8 owners and their phones are laggy already. Team that up with slow updates and it makes for pretty carp user experience. A Note 8 owners turns to me and says I can speed it up if I disable X Y Z. But you shouldn't have to start disabling stuff to make it faster. Stock Android deffo way forward. Shame I can't afford a Pixel just yet so Nexus 6 going to have to last another year. Still going strong.

Replacement arrived with me today. New condition. Just doing all the updates now. Oh and 3 months warranty starting on the day they dispatched it from the service centre.

So far might e has no issues. No complaints at all. Bit I have dealt with MS returns before and they are brilliant at replacing items as long g as you have warranty. Be sure to register your device to your account too so they can check details if required. Hopefully we all dont need to go down this route.

Mine came with a pen too.

About half a day until it started doing it again. It looked like driver issues but there was nothing recorded on the event logs. It was intermittent but when it was happening it would happen quite often. Can’t fault MS. Tons of communication including an email last night confirming the serial number of the replacement unit and to reply to them if anything else went wrong.

Mine arrived next day in fantastic original packaging and the seller was quick to reply to my questions. Yes the warranty period is a bit short but it's a very good laptop and touch wood the three laptops I've purchased in the past have lasted 3+ years plus warrantys are normally a load of crap anyway from my past experience with a tv and pcworld

This is far from standard price for a 1050 laptop - especially one with a i5 7300HQ processor. The next cheapest I could find was £699 Heat added.
