Only 960H quality so around 0.4mp....to help people understand the quality dvd is roughly a 720p image which is just under 1.3MP in terms of quality, HD TV/Blu-ray movies are 2.0MP or 1080p, 4K UHD=8MP, most cctv systems nowadays are mainly 2-3MP on HD-TVI or up to 8MP on IP however expect to pay around £500-1000 on these.

Price wise this is a bargain however to get faces the camera would have to fill around 15-20% of a persons face on the screen or to better explain a person must be within 1-2m of the camera, 2mp should be able to Identify someone within 4-6m, 4MP 6-10m, 8MP up to 15m

The above estimates are based on using a 2.8mm lens

Im not going to vote cold but thought some information like i have mentioned may help.

This is great advice. Cheers for putting the effort in. I have 720p cameras, and they're ok, but I'm not truly happy with them and will be upgrading at some point. The quality is particularly noticeable at night, so anyone thinking about getting a CCTV setup should think long and hard before parting with their readies, and maybe look at some images/footage of different quality cameras, making sure to check night time images in particular where the quality matters more. Otherwise you might end up spending twice.

Good post.

Had a similar set to this and as you say the resolution made it hard to make out any detail. Also does not help they are usually all the same small lens size giving a far out and wide field of view

Spent a bit more and replaced ours with Hikvision Exir 4MP turrets with correct lens sizes and the difference is unbelievable. Cost a lot more than these though.

For people wanting to just keep a general eye on things or for deterrent I suppose these would be alright.

Hi, Does anyone know if we have to pay custom/duties charges for this on arrival in the U.K.??

Nice info. Any recommendations for a 8 channel modular 4 - 8MP recording IP system with 2 or 4 starter camera's from a supplier with decent support ?

Just out of interest apart from the additional cost, would a 2MP system be better in terms of facial recognition than a 4 - 8MP system within range of 4-6 meters. I don't mind paying the extra if its justified. My front garden boundary wall (half height ) is at 8 metres.

Had a hoodie turn up at my front door with another one hiding behind my car few days ago and noticed they had their heads looking down. Any solution to this with regards to front door cameras like a floor level camera with a floodlight ?
