One of David Gemmell's best books (then again, he doesn't have many poor ones!). A highly recommended read to any fantasy book lover.

To me, his greatest strength in writing is in his ability to paint everyone in shades of grey. His characters have deep flaws but work hard to rise above them. Villians in his stories have several facets to their character that can make you root for them as well as against them.

If you haven't started a David Gemmell collection, this is a great book to start from

My favourite is his Drenai series but Rigante was good too. Heat.
Great book by a great author. Such a pity he died whilst still in his prime.
I love all of his books, he is greatly missed.
Excellent read. Fantastic author, everything he wrote is worth collecting.

He only one of two authors whom I've prioritised in terms of keeping physical books of (don't have space for many books so was forced to choose). The only books missing from the collection are his non-fantasy ones.

So many life lessons contained within his books in little nuggets for readers to discover.
Loved David Gemmell, he wrote some awesome characters. I have a graphic novel version of Legend somewhere. Wished they did more. Will we ever seen any of his work translated to the big or small screen?

Likely never I'm afraid. I've read several stories about David being adamant his characters would never be seen in movies.
Brilliant author, heat added

Did you grab his other graphic novel, Wolf in Shadow?
Nope, wish I did: it's worth a bit on Amazon Marketplace.
