I was recently in Bali with a hired car and was always getting lost, Google maps would not work without a data connection and would not allow me to save any maps offline using wifi, so I used Sygic's 7 day trial and it worked perfectly on gps, they use Tomtom maps and any map can be downloaded according to your initial purchase, price quoted is for Europe, price is 24.99 €, at today's rate about £21.60, I just purchased Europe,America,Southeast Asia & Africa for 62.99 € (about £54.45) after the 30% discount, it is not very often discounted and never as much as this, It's not for everyone but I hope some people will benefit from it.This offer expires on the 12th March and not all plans are reduced, see the link for more details.

nice narrative.

have to agree tho this software has to be one of the best.

Or if you want to do more or less the same thing for free, you can always try MapFactor (Beta). Lovely little app that gets regularly updated...

How does it compare to "Navfree"? - Navfree is awesome considering it's errr...FREE.

So what is the UK only map price?

It has many advantages over TomTom, but falls down on routing and frequency of map updates. Google routing is apparently coming in the next big update.

There is a trial so see for yourself. The best features imo are showing the road ahead in 3D with a slight transparency so you can see where it goes in 3D through a hill i.e. down steeply and to the left plus the distance warnings to the next speed zone. That was very handy in Wales for fuel economy and not steaming up and over a hill to find yourself in a downhill 30 zone. The routing wasn't too much of an issue as there was often only one way to go.

The routing on this software is awful.

The best would be either Navigon / Route66 or NDrive.

Ah.. I see the deal URL has changed it went to the Play Store Western Europe before. Now it's Sygic and I can see it's £17.49.

Navfree doesn't need an internet connection in the UK but it does when you're abroad. I was all set up to use Navfree on a driving holiday in South Africa only to find it wouldn't let me have access to the maps I
I had downloaded. MapFactor Navigator (Free) doesn't need an internet connection to work in any country.

I have used Navfree in Netherlands and Spain and neither required a data connection so I can only assume your maps did not download as the whole idea is to use it offline

^^ Same in the US for me. I used Navfree via GPS no data, no problem. Obviously downloaded the map via wifi before I left. This deal is luke warm for me as there are cheaper alternatives of similar quality. (I'll vote hot for the 30% saving only) Thanks Op.

I tried looking for the trial version but to no avail, any links?

When you look in the Play store for Sygic you should just see the install button that is the 7 day trial.

I thought you were talking about Google Navigation.

Been using CoPilot for ages, how does this compare to it please? Looking for a new SatNav software for the S2. Thanks.

The way Sygic displays it's navigation map is much better than CoPilot. I think I have tried most Navigation software available and the best is Sygic, especially now that it has 3 route options and HD traffic. Pre-Android the best was, IMHO, iGO8 with dimka skin, but nothing like that exists anymore. However, I am currently using CoPilot because it comes with 1 year free traffic.

Thanks mvohra. I don't have a SatNav on my Android phone yet, so maybe tempted with this.

No I was only referring to Google because that is where the routing upgrade is coming from for perhaps v13. If it had TomTom routing I don't think I'd ever look back.
