I have no idea how good the Syma X5SC is, but as I only want a reasonably inexpensive starter drone for my 8-year old son, I thought I'd give it a go.

Seems pretty decent and it looks OK.

Looked all over Amazon and some of the delivery dates stretched into January.

This could well be the same as it does state:
"Ships within 3-5 business days FREE SHIPPING"

But I personally prefer the black version and it seems to come with an extra batteries (500mAh & 650mAh) free.

Red @ $49.43:

White @ $65.90:

Don't know why white is so much more expensive.

Son only hit me with the "I would like a drone for Xmas" a couple of days ago.

Never used GearBest before, but have seen them mentioned on here, so fingers crossed.

Although originally listed in dollars, you can change the currency to GBP at the top of the page. I wasn't sure if there'd be any conversion charges doing this , so opted to use my trusty 'Halifax Clarity' to pay in the original currency.

I thought I'd found a cheaper seller @ £18.76 after I placed the order, but on further inspection that one didn't have the HD camera.

shipping time hit a and miss, ships within 3 days then takes 14 min to get to you.
I'd be surprised if this lands before Christmas.

Plus, in future you may want to consider paying by PayPal with these type of suppliers. Personally not had any problems, but many have and raising a PayPal claim is usually less hassle than via your card.
Are you sure that you that you`ve placed an order for delivery from uk warehouse and not from china?
In uk`s warehouse that version is not available (syma x5c is there but not x5sc - if that's any difference).
China I guess!
Ships in 3 - 5 days, but delivered in time for Xmas, just not this one.
Checked out videos from the camera on this on YouTube - no stabilisation means you may be sorely disappointed with the outcome if buying it for the camera functions. The footage suggests it's £32 for a reason.
I have ordered the syma x11 which although tiny, has great stability (there is a camera version also) and can be bought from uk sellers for about £20+
paid £60 for this recently

i paid £60 ... perhaps £70 from Bang Good about 4 months ago. bought a few extra batteries and extra charger. it has headless mode that is great. camera is ok-rubbish and it is exceptionally light. sold my RC 450 class heli and bought this with the proceeds. thinking if whether or not to buy a 250 FPV with goggles. those on YouTube look amazing!

14 min to get to you - they must be flying it directly!
I've never had any problems with GearBest. See also Banggood which is the same sort of thing. They have a lot of cool stuff for very cheap. Downside is you'll have to wait 3-5 weeks for delivery. That's the price you pay. I'd be surprised if you got it by Christmas.

No fussed TBH.

It would have been nice, but the la'll fella will have heaps of other stuff to keep him occupied.
