This is an Android phone with free sat nav, mp3 player, FM radio, 3.2 megapixel camera etc... In effect it's a smartphone on pay as you go, with free internet access for 6 months (worth £20). OK, the battery life isn't great but for the money it seems to be fantastic value for money.

+ £10 top up

You're quite correct dante2000. I hadn't spotted that. Still a very good deal IMHO though. Title amended.

£5 Quidco as well.

Wot version of Android is it?

I have the full size version of this and u[graded the version of Android which used up most of the internal memory and now there is only space for a few apps. Bear this in mind if planning to upgrade.

Dont ask about version numbers, I cant remember.

Original Poster

The one I bought 6 months ago had 2.1 on it. I haven't had an upgrade to 2.2 or beyond yet so presumably it's still 2.1. 2.1 allows you to use Google Maps / sat nav etc...

cheers

With Android you cant install apps onto a memory card so it makes no difference.

But you can use the memory card for music if you can't use it for apps.

I think you can with some with a app called apps2sd or something like that

Shame the Network provider us poor!!!!!!

Has to be worth a punt at that price. I've been looking for a cheap android phone for a while now as I have become bored with hacking the O. SF. (_;)

can you unlock these for free?

Almost going to buy this, but changed my mind when I read it was a resistive screen with a stylus. Also harder to unlock than the SF.

With Android 2.2 and above, you can install to SD card so stop talking nonsense.

Yes, I've found T-Mobile call centre to be filled with lying bar stewards.
They do do a deal at renewal time though. Not sure how the network stacks up now Orange and TMobile have merged. I've found O2 and VodaFone to be better than Orange and TMobile on customer services, but the more data we use, data network is king. So presumably 3 and TMobile+Orange are in front in terms of number of cells etc?

wi-fi - yes/no ?

wi-fi - yes/no ?

Yes.

Must be the cheapest new handset out there at the moment with wifi.

Very tempted.

I bought this phone and an Orange SF for my boys at xmas. The OSF is a far better phone for the money. I bought the mini in a 1 day sale with £30 M&S gift card, 6 month internet for £63+topup less £10 quidco. M&S gift card arrived yesterday. You are unlikely to get Android 2.2 as the main developer is very active developing OSF ROMs. I also found the custom ROM was not as good as the stock ROM. The "Canvas" UI compensates well fro the poor resistive screen.

Tried one....rubbish phone...AVOID. just MHO

Hey guys my local tj hughes as this pnone instore for £49.99 as well but the 20% off everything takes this down to £40 quid...my wifw bought one at the weekend for our son..bargain

Bought the phone from TJ Hughes for £39.99 (no top up required) a few weeks back. Quite a smart wee phone for the price and decent spec. Wi-fi worked well but screen a bit small for intensive browsing and resistive screen not the best.
Played back videos no bother and picture was actually not too bad. At under £40 I thought it was good value for money.

Thanks for that. I bought this about 6 months ago and updated the Android version then got frustrated with how few apps I had room for and just put it away and bought an iPhone.

For anyone buying one of these, when I bought one T-Mobile told me they are very data hungry and came with 3GB allowance per month from them. I have hardly used mine since I had it so cannot confirm but if you dont want any surprises if you are planning on using a different sim in there then go easy in the first few months and monitor it if you can.

Plus 100 free minutes each month when you top-up by 10 quid

And what version of Android do you think this phone has?

T-Mobile has stated that there won't be an official 2.2 firmware for it: support.t-mobile.co.uk/dis…89f

That sound more like they conned you into paying for extra data allowance.

They're talking crap. A phone itself can't be "data hungry". It depends entirely on what you install on it and how much you use it.

If you're like me and have a good phone and just need the sim, T-mobile allow you to pay £20 for 6 months of internet. You just need to get a payg sim (which you can make £1 via quidco) and then just get the booster

bargaintastic for an entry-level android.

They're not going to be any more data hungry than any other android phone. I'm currently hammering mine and I reckon I use about 1gb per month. Most average users (according to T-Mobile) use less than 500mb per month which is within the terms of PAYG. In any case, unlike others, they don't charge you if you go over, they just slow you right down.

Most Apps. you cant though, do you own an android with limited internal memory?

Im new to all these phones, I'm looking for one and saw this, can you download the skype app for it?
As I've seen this and its built in 3 ZTE

is there anywhere free unlock or cheap unlock please.

Am struggling with orange San francisco, but need a phone with sat nav as an option . . . Is this a better phone for a techno dinosaur?

Orange SanFrancisco has a WVGA resolution (800 X 480) pixels while this phone has a qvga res (320 X 240) pixels. Resolution itself is at least 6 - 8times worse than the OSF.
OSF has a 416 MB of RAM, this has got a 192MB RAM i believe.

this mobile is no better than OSF in any department. if you did not like OSF, you must be looking at HTC Desire, Samsung Galaxy S and their likes.

True - the small screen is a pain in the backside - a lot of apps don't like it.

But I've just been out to TJ Hughes and got one for £39.99, no top up required like Stephen25 said above - you can't grumble when you're getting Android 2.1 for £40!

I've bought it for my eldest daughter - no way would I let her loose on an OSF!

I don't think the T Mobile deal looks that good so I'll probably try to get it unlocked - DCunlocker will do it over the net for 10 Euro apparently - lots of good feedback.
