Lol only if your that anal about it! The products are brilliant. Can't fault them.

I agree that the T5 is significantly superior to the older Fire tablet, but I'm not so sure when comparing to the 2019 model... I think they will probably be comparable in performance, but the Fire is £35 cheaper.Have you read the review that I linked to and looked at the benchmark results?

I have but one thing that hasn't changed is the Fire OS itself and that Amazon are currently on a crusade to stamp out customising Fires with third party launchers and doing everything they can to prevent Google services and sideloading (something I have become very keen on). So yes the new HD10 looks great but it's still very hindered by Amazon's own strangle hold on it.

No.. Only affects newly released products and there's loads of workarounds.

Huawei are still good and specs on the T5 are better than the Tab. I have the 16gb version and the performance is phenomenal, the battery and power management is also top notch.

Just bought this for my dad. I think it's a good deal for pretty good spec. Went through quidco for cashback.

No... you need to read up on the details. Google cannot currently supply Google apps and framework for new devices, but all devices currently on the market will continue to be fully supported.
Would you say this is better than the samsung tab A, wanting it for my 12 year old for homework and youtube watching

That depends what specs you are talking about... the T5 is better regarding RAM, but no other aspect. The new Tab A 10 has a faster processor and GPU, and the new new Fire HD 10 is faster than both of them.

mynexttablet.com/ama…ew/

All three options have their issues:

Fire HD - only £95 right now, Fire OS, only 2GB RAM, fastest processor.
T5 - £130, slowest processor, 3GB RAM, only micro-USB, only Android Orea (updates looking more unlikely)
Tab A - £150 with case and SD card (arguably paying £130 for tablet, assuming you are happy with a 64GB SD card), processor a little faster than T5, only 2GB RAM

I started this being sure I would get the T5 because it has more RAM, then the Tab A bundle at Currys grabbed my attention, however, I want a 128GB card... I considered that the faster processor in the Tab A might make up for less memory compared to the T5; however, this logic pulls you back to the much cheaper Fire HD 10... I just bought the Fire HD 10... the review linked above was a big influence... fastest processor and GPU, and cheapest price by a decent margin.

I do a good bit of gaming (mostly Beamdog and The Room games) and the 16gig version of the T5 is brilliant, it handles it all really well...there seems to be a lot of ram and power management going on in the background very much like the fire os tablets but sadly Fire tablets can't handle gaming very well. Just bought my son the 32gig T5 for crimbo as an upgrade from his old Fire. He now has a better tablet than me. :/

Voted hot for the deal.

Almost bought this when it was posted earlier in the week for £140 but I held back for Friday.

So my Nexus 9 is finally being retired (not done too badly for a purchase made in 2014).

The Tab A has 2GB RAM is just not enough and could bottleneck the SoC, it would get even slower when more Apps are downloaded, using up more RAM. The speakers are side firing, no sound from one side when you watch Youtube.

The T5 is a better Tab with 3GB RAM and better speakers placement. But it might be stuck on Oreo.
Like the look of it apart from not being to able to put apps on sdcard..

Adaptive storage is not reliable at all. Apps can stop updating. And it could slow the tablet down.

32GB is plenty anyway.

No problem with updating for Apps, Games etc for the next 5-6 years.
It just might not get PIE, which is the latest Android.

Yes but only for your media stuff, MP3, Avi, MPEG etc. Not for your Apps and games.
Been keeping an eye on these but haven't bitten yet.. on the lookout for one, or something similar but hoping to stay closer to £100... tempting though...
What CPUs are in these? Can you install Windows on them?
i got this recently. i was to-ing and fro-ing with the ipad as everyone was saying the ipad is a much better buy but i think this tablet is really good for the money. it doesn't seem any inferior to the ipad (i have the ipad air first generation) so i am well pleased. it is much lighter than the ipad, which suits me better.

battery life is comparable to the ipad and charging doesn't take any longer than the ipad even though the specs state a much longer charging time.

I was considering the Fire HD 10 2019 and the 32GB/3GB Mediapad T5: Althought the T5 has 3GB ram, the chip doesn't fare as well when compared to the mediatek. I haven't found a website that directly compares the 2 but you can compare benchmarks from youtube videos and notebookcheck.net.

Only downside with the HD 10 is Fire OS but Google Play can be sideloaded and interest is picking up on XDA. So yeah... I agree with you.
