I’ve been searching for one of these below the 199 RRP for a while now and it hasn’t budged. So this is a great price (tried to buy 2 on eBay but turned out to be scams

I’d wait until Black Friday. On Prime day these were reduced but they went down further to £139 in the days after Prime Day.

Does V3 support the radiator thermostats they now offer?

There surely must be a difference.

Is the extension kit just if you want to control the hot water?

extension kit is also required if you have a wireless thermostat currently installed. I grabbed a v2 for 59.99 in curry's a few months back and an extension kit off eBay for £42.

I don't think the V2 works with Apple Home Kit, you need to replace the bridge.

V2 won't work with Apple home kit or Google home. Other than that apparently they are the same.

I would love another deal on the radiator thermostats

Correct. Some V3 weren’t compatible either hit Tado were offering a free replacement. I believe the offer

That’s correct. Even some of the earlier V3 models are not compatible but for Tado offers a free replacement (but only for people who purchased a V3 that isn’t compatible).

The radiator thermostats are down to £49 along side this offer from BT Shop

I'm split between waiting for a better offer on these and going for the Drayton Wisers.

Also unsure if installation is a no brainer. I don't think my usual plumber would have a clue what these were.

Cheers I'll have to wait till they are that price again and buy a load of em. I bought a v2 off Maplin last night. I don't use Apple homekit so not something I'm going to miss with v3.

home kit is not an issue for me, but kind of like the idea of hooking it up to Google home or Alexa at some point in the future... Not enough to pay 2x the price though!!

I've just bought the Tado coming from the Drayton Migenie. I'd have a serious think about the Wiser. Their servers go down quite a lot and things they said they would bring to the migenie (IFTTT and geofencing) failed to materialise...things they are also stating that will be coming to the Wiser system, but not implemented yet. The MiGenie app is buggy and gives you different boost times to what you select. Plus no support during non office hours.
What was interesting was that the initial reviews were amazing, but over time they really weren't.
I must admit I was tempted by the Wiser system as it's cheaper and at least I know what I'd be getting myself into, but I had to have a word with myself about the grief I've had with the Migenie already! Knowing my luck it'll be the same with the Tado.

Installation is easy, I’ve installed both v1 and v3. The v3 version of the extension will now fit a standard controller backplate. I’ve had Tado for 3 years and can’t recommend it enough

I've just started looking into smart thermostats .... Don't know much. Why would u purchase this over a Nest 3rd generation ?

Any idea what happens if Internet connection goes down?

Also wondering if I need to keep a couple of radiators thermostat free?

That's relative. Might be a good way for a noob like me to electrocute themselves!

Also, I have a Worcester Bosch Greenstar 38cdi Classic ERP and as good as it is it's not Opentherm compatible so I'm not clear if I'd get the full benefits of the smart features.

You have the option of multi zone heating by using the smart radiator thermostats which control heating to the individual room level and things like geofencing etc. I believe the Nest learns your heating patterns so might automatically warm up the place for when you get home but wouldn't know if you you left work late, whereas this would.

You need to buy seperate kit for all radiators to control it individually , buy Seperate kit to handle hot water .
So spending more money with Tado...!!!!

Does anyone know if this works or SmartThings or even better if the V2 works with it?
Cheers

Thanks for that
The V2 looks ideal for me shame that's none around at that price , do you know how hard they are to install? I have a standard combi boiler already with a wireless thermostat in the hall.
When I looked into nest it looked basically I straight swap is this similar.
Cheers

If you have a wireless thermostat you’ll need to grab a tado extension unit also. It’s likely the RF unit you’ll be replacing with the Tado extension will be using the correct wires you need to wire into the Tado unit as essentially it’s control the same thing.
Ive heard the Tado customer service team are excellent so if you get into trouble you get ask them for advice.

Cheers Andy I've not seen a V2 for sale so might have a look at the V2 starter kits they do.

If I can get something hooked up to my SmartThings I can stop that

maplin.co.uk/p/t…9rx V2's for £84.99, add around £40 on ebay for an extension kit. otherwise it will cost you another £80 brand new.

Thanks all I picked a v2 kit from Maplin for £84.99 all installed last night in 45 mins. The instructions really are excellent.

Please expire, this is back at £199
