Cracking price for this starter kit (thermostat and bridge) and yes, I am fully aware of the bad form of Tado for charging for geofencing on V3+ models but the product is STILL exceptional and has actually saved us a clean fortune in our current home.

We have a V2 unit in our current house (free geo for now) and I will be bringing it with us when we move and just wanted this to replace the current setup for the new owner

Almost bought yesterday when it was £75 off but is listed as £100 off today which is superb!

Yes. Unless you need the extension kit. (If you want to control hot water and or don’t have a wired thermostat)

I have a combi boiler so only want to control the heating. So this is everything I need to be able to turn on my heating from my phone?
if your current thermostat is remote to the boiler then you would need to consider the extention kit unless you actually want this thermostat wired to your boiler.

I have a wireless thermostat, no idea what one. But I'd like to move to a smart one. Are these thermostats normally comparable with other wireless thermostat connectors?

Check their website, there is a useful online tool to help you determine what you need.
But almost certain that you will need this. Possibly an extension kit as well. And TRV's, if you want to control each radiator individually

Speak with Tado, they are really helpful and provide detailed guides for installation in each particular system design.

If you want to keep it wireless then you will also need to get the extension kit.
heard about the 3 quid a month subscription... no thanks

Only for certain features I understand. Perhaps the Tado rep that posted about could clarify the subscription for this post (and the other one you posted on)..?
I've got a combi boiler with individual thermostats on each radiator (which work well). I would like to replace the old manual timer with an internet enabled one i. e. something that let's me switch the boiler on and off manually and set up daily on/off schedules. Everything on the market seems to come with smart thermostats etc which I don't want. Basically all the functionality I need is available in a 15 quid TPLink smart plug so a basic wireless timer shouldn't be a big deal?? Or is it?

I did point that out in the original post but saying that, as an existing Tado owner and granted I get geofencing free............I would *STILL* say it is worth a curry chip & can of coke a month ALL. DAY. LONG.

The issue was with how they handled the move to the subscription service. Not the cost itself.

Having looked at all the other offerings, i think that Tado's implementation of geofencing is the best but this is obviously something that can (and I am sure will) change as competitors update their systems. It is just a software item after all (the app)

If you don't need the bridge then I think there is the "DIY" kit version for £99 and there is a 20% Black Friday voucher TADO20 on the page bringing it down to around £79. Here it is ao.com/pro…spx
Just an FYI, without the bridge, it isn't a "smart" thermostat though bud. Its is just a thermostat

The bridge is what gives the ability to control with you phone, see house temp, geo fencing, usage reports etc etc
