So its best to replace hive with this then if I decided to get these?
Thanks for all the replies.
I have the curve version of these TRVs do the same job but for 24£ per radiator. But no alexa integration with the cheaper alternative so seriously considering a migration to tado this black friday.

Tado rrp is £69 and Amazon commonly is still £59 per rad. I think I bought some of mine at £40-something last year but £33.50 is nuts. Clearly reacting to the competition.

I only need one but will try and ebay my other 3. If anyone needs an odd number, let me know
Can you get the horizontal ones for the same price?
Do they work with Hive?
Just bought x8 to do the whole house. Great deal!
Hi All,

Will these work with a Viessmann boiler & control panel? Does one need to have one on each radiator in the house?

Does the plumber just take out the old radiator controls/thermostats & just replace with these & that's it or are other things/devices needed to buy?

Many Thanks!

Do they work with Hive?

If you asking if it works on hive app then its no. You will need the internet bridge from the starter pack to use these trvs from Tado's app. Your Hive thermostat and schedules will control the heating when to come on, then you need to use your schedules on the Tado Trvs to open and close the valve on your radiator. So you need to manage both systems schedules. This is how i understand, as i have Hive and just brought the Tado starter pack yesterday waiting to arrive. Tried Hive's Trv and they are not ready for use to work properly as intended and they are very slow to respond.

Very interested to know too as also got a viessmann boiler.
Saw another deal yesterday with a hub for £75, I have 8 radiators in my house, what do I need to control all of them individually?

Depends on if you want to be able to control each radiator individually. If you want your heating on when home, off when not and all radiators either off or on, then you don’t need this, you need the thermostat.
Great price. Gutted I paid £170 just over a month ago for these
If anyone has any questions regarding install and compatibility, it's best to ask Tado. They CS is top notch. I think they have a product selector on their website as well to tell you what is required for your system.

For the rads you need one of these for each, so 2 packs of 4. Plus the hub and maybe thermostat, I'm a bit unsure on the last part.
Right so to control 8 radiators individually I would need 8 thermostats, 8 trv and one hub. Is that correct?

How do you install these?

Installing these is easy, IF you already have manual TRVs. It stands for Thermostatic Radiator Valve - just means "twisty knob with 1 to 5 markings"

If you do, it's a simple DIY job. No plumbing, and no leaks (as long as you are careful). The old heads just unscrew, and these screw on. Finger-tight, though you might need grips to remove your old ones. There are tutorials on YouTube.

You will need the Internet Bridge, and I DIY replaced my main wall thermostat too.

Here is the TLDR: if you live in a small flat, you don't need these.

I have a 1930s semi with loft conversion. It isn't well insulated or double glazed. My Nana is in the house 24/7 and is cold. So I use tado to heat her bedroom, and the sitting room, while turning off the rest of the house. Right now, at 0730, my bathroom is heating up ready for a morning shower, but then will chill out the rest of the day. The loft conversion isn't heating all day when nobody in it.

Every radiator in every room pop on and off according to the temp sensor in the TRV, my calendar, or both. Why heat the dining room if it's empty?

correct. The "all or none" can be done with a regular timer, the tado thermostat, or a Nest.

Howe9, if you want each rad on & off wirelessly on-demand, based on a very detailed scheduler, local room temp, or the geofencing, you need these and the starter kit (also on sale I think) which has the bridge and thermostat

almost. only 1 thermostat, which acts as a "hub" to use existing wiring to communicate with your boiler.

the bridge is to join everything up via WiFi and over the Internet
Oh right not as bad as I thought

So 1xhub, 1x thermostat and 8 trvs and I can have 8 radiators set to different temperatures if I wanted to.
Annoying that it’s only the vertical reduced and all the horizontal full price.

Oh nice might just go all vertical then as the display will never be used.

Yes, this works fine. I never look at mine or even use the knob for manual override.

The "screen" will still be visible and readable for you, just tilt your head

Finally made up my mind and ordered 2
Nearly bought last week for £150 at Curry's so had to bite at this price. Hopefully will get the voucher for going through the Amazon app as well!
I need only two
my radiators have standard valves- non thermostatic with +- markings. i guess i have to remove the standard valve for a trv for tado to work? any links as which trv to buy- confusing as sellers discribe as "head only" etc

the "head only" bit is the knob (or wifi head like tado) all this does is push a pin in or out that controls the flow of water in the rad. if you don't have this, you need new VALVES which is a plumber job and drain the system.

If you have existing control heads, as long as the thread size matches, you can just unscrew and fit a tado

if you just have "taps" then you need valves

if unsure, check with tado pre sales or a plumber

Seriously interested in these. Only issue is I have 14 rads to hook up. Would you generally only get the best out of this system by having smart valves on all rads? Also a few do not currently have TRVs. This could get expensive...
Thanks op 2 packs ordered and noticed the additional thermostat is also on offer at amazon for £75 so ordered one of those too.

I have two of these atm, and had intended to put them throughout the house - but I'm wavering, as I'm not completely sure with regards to energy saving and/or efficiency as to whether they're worth it. If anyone's gone down this route, has it made any difference/savings for you?
