I'm still burrowing further down the rabbit hole that is looking at watches! Best price I can see for this watch our there, seems a decent saving - was £2,295.00 and is generally above £2,000 on other sites as well.

Not sure if one of the mods could do the "strike-through of the previous price" thing next to the current price in the deal title as in my previous Tag Carrera post?

Technically credit to @Baldricky for this...but I’ve collated the newest gems from the recent posts today and yesterday. Clever (or too much spare time) Me!

To get things moving, I will start it off with the following comments to save others the effort.

1. Thanks OP, I bought 10 for FleaBay.
2. My £10 Casio is more accurate than this.
3. Cheers OP, I bought 4 for the Dog.
4. I prefer my (insert name of completely unrelated watch) and I am just here to willy wave.
5. Ridiculous, I could get a second hand car for that price.
6. This is a deals site, people on here don’t have that much money to waste on a watch.
7. Why do I need a watch when I have a phone?
8. Ridiculous, I could lease a basic family car for approx 24 Months for that price.
9. Pah, Hardley, I’ll pass. (sorry, wrong thread).
10. Expensive for a rebadged Swatch.
11. 150m WR and worn no deeper than desk level.
12. Looks like something I’d buy in Argos/Matalan/Home Bargains/Etc.
13. Cold, I bought mine in 1980 oat cake and it was cheaper than this.
14. Cheers OP I bought one for each wrist.
15. We need to rename this site Hot UK Rich People’s Deals.
16. The Rich (an undefined group) are responsible for all the worlds problems.
17. I bet i could find the exact same one in Benidorm for a fiver
18. Yes please, i'll take 20!
19. Never heard of that brand
20. Why anyone would spend that on a watch is beyond me.
21. I'll have to wait until I get my imaginary bonus...
22. £X for a watch... I would be scared to wear it
23. I could totally afford it if I sell my car but...
24. Some people don't half waste money when they have it
25. It’s Trumps fault
26. I'd be embarrassed to wear it, won't leave the house unless I'm wearing one worth at least double that
27. I’d not wear that if someone paid me
28. Picking up a couple of these, bargain
29. I bet the depreciation on this watch is more than a Dacia
30. Go to Turkey and get AN EXACT duplicate for £45. Make sure you shop around, some fakes are better than others, and haggle hard!!
31. Should be called Hot and Rich UK People's Deals

There’s nothing wrong with spending a bit of money on a nice watch but MOST “normal” people will consider a watch costing over £100 or so as quite expensive, so people making sarky comments about them saying so, clearly are just pretentious “look at me and my money” type show offs!

Covered by no 4.

Ok, general question about buying non Argos price watches. (Apologies if I sound thick!).

So, you go into an AD, find a watch you like and agree on a 4 figure price. Does the AD go and get one from his stock room in the back, or are you expected to walk away with the one from the window that every man and his dog has tried on?

Any decent AD (not high street jeweller) selling decent watches will have a degree of stock. If not, then a decent AD will have all the relevant packaging, box, hang tag, Etc and will clean up a display model so you would not know. If taking a display model, I’d hope to negotiate a bit more discount. However I am sufficiently anal that if buying online I will ask specifically ask for an unfettered example.

Both are possible, but if you really love it and they’ve only got the display one, insist on discount. Most jewellers will price match, so if you’re after a sparkly, unopened one, just go somewhere else and offer to buy at the price you want.

Cheers. Pretty much how I thought it would work. I guess the retailer could also order the watch for you.
Have also found it at Mappin & Webb for the same price.

I don't want to buy any Lego... but I don't make any comments on offer pages about people that do want to buy Lego
It seems some believe you're a Hooray Henry for being willing to spend this on a watch... yet the same people will spend an extra £5k for a Volkswagen rather than be seen in a Skoda

Lol. She's bitten.
Actually, most normal people who grow out of expecting other people to pay for their lives, they realise that there is a huge difference in quality in things like watches, as there is in wine, as there is in food, or cars, or most things. Most people grow up and desire something better for themselves.
Nothing about showing off. A watch is small and is only noticeable to those looking... So it's a subtle classy expense... Obviously all of that is over your head.

I recently bought the Zenith Pilot from Beaverbrooks online. I was expecting a new watch, but it turned out to be ex-display. So they are sending me a new strap and big voucher off my next purchase. The watch itself is mint, but you could tell a few people had tried it on.
