2824-2 appears in many watches from around £300 and upwards. Great movement. Nice TAG but yes, paying £500 here for the name alone.

From wornandwound;

So why are people so rude about ETA movements? To be fair, the irritation around 2824-powered timepieces isn’t usually about the quality of the engine itself; it’s about the price. A single ETA 2824-2 movement will set a watchmaker back around £225 (about $290), assuming they buy just one. And that same movement will pop up anywhere from “budget” watches to some serious, top-end timepieces with posh names on the dial—and prices to match.

It can be a little hard to swallow when a £5,000 watch is apparently carrying the same movement as your £350 beater. But explaining why is a story for another day.

Just can't get to £715 for quartz in my head. Nice watch though

If the movement is that cheap why dont they stick that in then? I'm not a tag hater just don't get the logic. Just my opinion mate. Like I said nice looking watch

I totally agree, I wasn’t having a go and I do apologise if my comment sounded belittling, it honestly wasn’t meant to so again, apologies.

In answer to your question it’s so they can put the £200 movement inside a similar watch and charge £1000 more for it because it’s then a “Swiss made automatic” which for 99% of people = something that it’s not.

Again, couldn’t have put it better myself.

Paying for the name not the technology

IMO they're trading on a perception of quality. Their customer service and the actual standard of products is exceptionally poor, they look good but are absolute mince, I'd personally advise everyone against buying any LVMH Tag product!!
I have a tag, it's a limited edition that wasn't available on the open market so I would like to defend them and say they're brilliant.... But my colleague who also bought one has recently found it has stopped working after just over 2 years...
Ah well.

Hmm I would have to disagree here on the customer service aspect.

I noticed an issue with my watch when I purchased it, which LVMH fixed immediately and then gave a free service option to be used when I needed it.

Anyway noticed it was 5 years since purchase last month, and sent the watch in for service, they did a top job.

Got a full breakdown of what they changed and what to look out for in the future.

People hate on Tag similarly to Grey Goose here, end of the day, regardless of what you say, they’ve managed to break into the Swiss watch industry and are widely recognised.

Again all this is preferential, also OP good find for the price, that’s a nice watch.
Good find - heat.

My 1st Tag still in excellent condition in-out after 10years plenty of use. Only had to change battery once which cost me £70. The factory battery has been changed 6+ years after purchase and I remember the shop told me it is unbelievable that the watch is 6+ years old (in a good way)
Tag is using high quality materials, proven by me too
Top price for a top brand....

HOT !

could say the same about apple / Samsung flagship phones in terms of cost of production etc. To be fair there's many examples

I suppose, but there are not many $4 a week jobs going just now in Switzerland

Plenty in the far east especially in China, makes you think when Apple is worth 2 Trillion, Doubled is revenue since Lockdown in March, unbelievable feat ! Covid did well for the Apple shareholders

Nice watch, I have an F1 Tag......think it’s either 10 or 11 years old now. Never needed anything more than a new battery. When I clean it, everyone still comments on my nice new watch.
