This offer is restricted to a once off use only. Smyths Toys Superstores will retain your Toys R Us Gold Card once the discount is applied. Customer limits apply. No bulk buying. This offer is strictly restricted to one per household and one per transaction. Development: We couldnt find our card, but spoke to customer services at Smyths to ask if we had an email with our loyalty card number whether they would consider the discount. CS said its at the discretion of the manager, so we rang the Hull store, and he said he was happy to honour the discount. Went in and managed to get the 20% off. Might be worth a try for those who cant find their card.

Presumably because you're an adult now and not a child under the age of 10?
Hamleys is the realmagical toy shop, not like those other shoddy joints you folk are babbling about like y'all some kinda magic toy shop experts, pah!
Going to miss taking my 2 year old to ride around in all the toy cars for half an hour free every month in Toysrus

Nice
Sounds good but I have a Star Wars Gold Card, don’t think I want to say bye to that. Even the staff normally say, ‘ooo not seen that one before’.
Savage!

There was never any magic, they're pretty much the same now as they were then, grim!

Maybe if Smyths could ever magic up some stock of anything for home delivery!

That's kind of grim but i guess its business and ToysRus only have themselves to blame for having the highest prices around. what do Smyths gain though?

Pretty much every toy in the shop???????

Its only the software stuff which is excluded.
I assume this can be used on LEGO sets?
Wow, I have visions of the Smyths management piling these in the car park and torching them, before dancing around the flames with manic laughter... RIP Toys R Us 😥

Ok Chewbacca.
Toys r us were the biggest rip off merchants going, there was never a console game that was at least a year old that was under £44.99 disgraceful

I think what they mean to say is 'tragic' 😁

They may as well have said it isn't valid on all the stuff you'd want to buy.

No it’s not only software....

Its pretty much video game related stuff, and technology thats not included... Pretty much all toys are including Lego... I would say 90% of the store...
This is the very reason smyths will never die off. Very clever business here, and for those that are moaning it doesn't cover everything... You ever heard of a deal like this before?? a competitor offering discounts if you're a member of its competitor? never. Its a clever marketing trick and its the reason they're well ahead of toys r us.
gutted I threw my card away a little while ago. It’s my sons birthday next week and I wa planning on buying from smyths anyway 😩
I just saved £30. Thank you. Girl on till said they hadn't had too many people in to take up offer but offer was to encourage Toys R Us customers to now come to Smyths. Presume this is why they are not emailing Smyths customers so not advertised as well. There was only one small A4 sign in store by the desk. As for what can you use it on? 95% of the store! If you're moaning it's useless you clearly don't have kids and are a gamer shopping in a place for children.

It's sad Toys R Us is going but you used to only be able to get toys in there and Woolies. Smyths and The Entertainer came along then Argos and the supermarkets came along with their low prices and ofcourse Amazon. Toys R Us kept high prices and ignored the competition. I feel sorry for the people on the shop floor but the management are to blame.
Very sad to see whats happening with Toys R Us .. the advert will live long in the memory but its a shame how ToysRUs have been handled lately and not able to compete with others, most notably online shops

Yes but only the regent st one, not the local ones in shopping centres
If anyone has one who wouldn't use it, any chance I could get it off you?
It's kind of funny because my Smyths store is literally RIGHT next door to TRU.

No, just the shopping centre ones, the Regent St one is the worst store ever. Was proven in many credible independent world-renown toy & magic expert reviews. So no more debate on it.

False! Nostalgia from being a kid and into video games, loved that whole ticket system toys r us had. Taking your ticket up that magical vendor and get a factory sealed copy every time fond memories!
Don't agree with this and think Smyths is dealing a very low blow here. I think its a real shame that the stores are closing. I worked there in the late 90's and it was The Toy shop. Made loads of friends there and feeling very sorry for those that are there who are losing their jobs. The stores have lost a lot of the magic but I have great memories of TRU and always will.

I have never seen the car parks as busy as they have been the last couple of weeks shame everyone shows up for a bargain and not supported them over the years.

I think a big mistake Toys R Us made was not publicising their price match scheme more. They would price match Amazon and Smyths, but not many people knew about it. The other issue is that stores were dated, and massive! Smyths as late comers to the market have got the out of town store size right. Small foot print with high shelves to cram in the toys, and The Entertainer have the town centre market covered. I think Toys R Us tried to react to this. They opened some smaller shops like in Nottingham Victoria Centre, and cut some bigger stores down like where I live now in Hull, but looks like this may have been too costly and too little too late. Sad to see them go, but for us it was third choice of toy shop to go to.
