Big fan of the Tales series, always decent, I assume this to be the day one edition as it's in one of the pictures and pretty sure it will be the only version in print at launch.

oO.....

good price, have to finish Graces F off first really though.

Heat.. Cancelled my amazon and pre ordered thanks op

better than the psn joke pre order price. heat!

Never played any of the Tales Games yet myself, but i do enjoy a good RPG. Can anyone give a brief overview of what the gameplay is usually like in these games, or is there another RPG game it could be compared to which is similar

Tales games are fast paced real time combat JRPG's. They use Anime style visuals. The stories tend to be humorous. The game should be quite long and have optional side-quests and probably a new game + option allowing the retention of certain items etc for a second playthrough.

Surely this isn't th eday one edition with the soundtrack/artbook. talesofgame.com/uk.…tml Tesco isn't listed on there, not sure if that means they won't get the day one edition or not...

Still, definitely cancelled my shopto one (how the hell are they charging £46.85 for it?!). I'll try this (My brother gets a 10% discount!). As in the OP, there's a picture of day one so worst case, when it arrives I just send it back and hope another store still has the day one edition in stock (I want the soundtrack!)

HISPLINY has described it perfectly however in terms of similar games I would put it on similar levels to Star Ocean in terms of Battle Mechanics - if you have ever played any of those.

Really fun battles and good games.

Tales of Symphonia and Tales of Graces F are my favourites so far.

Ordered the Special Edition don't know if I should go for this

Is that the one with the female figurine?

Is it worth buying this at launch? I remember pre-ordering graces F and paying almost full price, only to kick myself later as the price started falling soon after. What made it worse is that I didn't even enjoy the game. The worst of the series imo, Vesperia was miles better.

Hehe, I feel the complete opposite. I have now bought Vesperia and finding it twice as hard to get into. I've actually stopped playing it for a while and don't find myself wanting to go back to it like I did with Graces F.

I will go back and play but for me the magic was in Graces F but I don't get the same feelings in Vesperia. I think it's an amazing series though, it's like Final Fantasy in a sense that there are so many games in the series yet everyone loves each one for different reasons and more than what someone else would.

Asked them earlier on twitter about day one edition: 'On pre-order and release of the game, every copy of Tales of Xillia will be the Day 1 Edition in the UK.' so it is day one!

They have an action based combat system rather than something turn based or (purely) command based.

The Tales of... games tend to have fairly traditional fantasy storylines, relying on the character interactions to keep things entertaining (as you walk around, you get prompts to have conversations with party members).

I still the think best one is Tales of Phantasia.

Too much cutscene junk in the later ones.

(Tales of Symphonia was not too bad).

Symphonia was my first tales, followed by Phantasia. Definitely my 2 favourites but I think Symphonia tips it.

Currently got it for this price from Flubit.

Flubit will get it to me for release, Tesco won't, hopefully price will drop some more so I can reflubit it. Shame Flubit does not accept codes to compare against.
