I'm not a diehard jRPG fan, but I can't deny the excellent reviews this game has. The combat system looks really well done too, so this isn't one of those games with slow paced menu combat (not that there's anything wrong with that type of combat, it's just a very different style of play).

CamelCamelCamel shows it hasn't been this low before, and it's only ever been the same price if you went through Tesco Direct using a special code. So pretty hot for anyone who missed out/wants to pick this up now.

I thought this was brand new? I've also heard from several sources that the story and dubbing are absolutely terrible and the only thing interesting is the combat.

It is new, that's why it's hot! Have you read the reviews on Amazon? Comments about the story range from 'it gets the job done' to a lot of praise like this:

"What most of you are probably most interested in, is the story. I can assure you that ToX delivers. I will include no spoilers, but you can expect one heck of a ride with ToX, with plot twists coming from every corner! I was sitting on the edge of my seat when things really escalated! To some, the story may not be what you're expecting, but as a 'Tales' fan who has played nearly all the games in series, Bandai Namco really have done a great job."

Even if the average rating on various websites really was all down to the combat... that's a pretty huge feat and something I'd like to play myself. I won't have time to play my copy for a while, but I am looking forward to it.

Oh, it's just that I've seen samples of the dialogue and it's horrible whereas that review you quoted sounds like a 14 year old reviewing Naruto. Oh well, I've still got to play Tales of Graces f yet but great price/deal!

Fair enough. I do expect some cheesy/bad dialogue in games like this, but hopefully it won't be too bad! Can't wait to try the combat though, as I do love that.

Oh dear!

Damn!
Should've waited for this one...
Hot from me!

What the frack, I loved Tales of Graces F, story included! - What was wrong with it?

Anyone who has played this, which Tales game (if any) is the combat most similar to? I'm gonna youtube it now but I have loved the combat in Tales of Graces F and Tales of Symphonia so far.

Want this so bad but only reason I haven't bought it yet is due to so much to play already and things due out now / next month!
I will get this at some point but I think for now I shall wait

Its similar to grace the combat but rather than picking skills to learn you have a spider web which is similar to the final fantasy 13 leveling up. Im not keen on the combat as while ots like grace they have changed some parts so its a bit complicated to get your head round.

The problem I have with complicated combat systems is unless the story is legendary then I lose my focus on the story.

My favourite combat system in this series is the first "Tales of Phantasia"

Fans of the Tales franchise should love this one. Bit more mature in it's narrative when compared to Tales of Grace. The story and dubbing are just fine and are no way inferior to other Tales games IMHO. The combat can get very complex but you can get through 99% of battles without needing to do the uber "linking" which is the new addition to the series. The only annoying part of the game is when a certain team member joins the fray, the Voice work on that thing is dreadful

That sounds excellent, the spiderweb part - I could play the combat fine in ToG however I actually found the skills and descriptions and what not confusing as hell. So if this is more complicated then god help me lol. In ToG I was just never really sure if what I was doing was good or bad but at the end of the day the enemies died so it's ok lol
