heat added but i refuses to buy these no age declared single malts for 2 reasons
1) they all seem to come with fancy names, big advertising budgets and mrp's up to 33% more that the traditional aged stock. Why, because the industry doesn't have stocks of old whisky to meet demand.
2) They only have to be 3 years old.

By refusing to buy anything without an age statement you’re missing out on some very good whisky. I’m personally not a huge fan of this particular one but there are plenty of other no age statement single malts that are very nice. The Glen Moray speyside sherry cask that Morrison’s have for £18 for example is a very nice drop and well worth a try. In my opinion it’s far nicer than many 10/12 year old whiskies in my collection.

That's what the industry says. For me the breaking point is price. I don't mind paying 25+ for an aged whisky as i understand the cost of keeping the whisky in the barrel for a long time. This is a financial commitment in tied up resources but also the loss of product that occurs due to evaporation. These 3 year old whiskys don't have these overheads yet slick names and marketing appear to add up to a 3rd in retail price over the core aged products. This is profit gouging. Also appears caramel is used to make up for the missing aged colour.
same price in asda
Nice malt but storm is far better £30 at Tesco

Colouring is used in nearly all mass produced whisky. Plenty of 15+ year old whiskies still use artificial colouring.
iirc this is just a new aged whisky. Charging 10 year old single malt money
While your argument may apply to some offerings it certainly does not apply to all. Most NAS whisky will be a lot older than 3 years and even premium age statement whiskies have colouring added.

You could miss out on some good whisky and good whisky deals by covering all NAS whisky with same blanket. Good example.

A few weeks ago I posted a deal for Glenmorangie A Mid winter's night dram (I am actually not a fan of Glenmorangie standard age statement offering) but that NAS was fabulous whisky.

I suggest you watch the below and maybe a few more of his videos
