I moved to them from Sky last year and my connection speed dropped from nearly 30Mb/s down to about 3. After 6 months, 3 engineer visits and hours of excuses I got out of the contract. Went to Now TV and the speed has nevee been under 40Mb. They kept claiming it was my line and couldn't explain how the same line was so much faster with Sky. BT engineers told me their equipment in exchanges were garbage.
I have talk talk broadband and it's been spot on. No issues, would probably stay with then after my contract
Depends on where you are based, I had the same issue, from 35mb from sky down to 9mb from them, same excuses that it was my phone line, got out the contract and I'm with Now TV, and it's back up to 35mb.
Never again ! The worst broadband company I've ever been with.
Been with Sky BT and Plusnet

TalkTalk by far the best provider

Plusnet an absolute disgrace!
They are all c-rap.
Quidco paid out quickly to me on recent order. Talltalk has been okay, a few router reboots etc glad i left plusnet as fhey screwed my.bill up multiple times.
My speed increased when I switched from Sky to TalkTalk
All isps speeds are pretty much identical, bar router. I joined talk talk at the same price with 3 months free and £55 cashback, so quite similar deal. The router is ok but huge, and it felt sluggish compared to BT but after the 10 days stability tests it's better now and the speed is maybe 3-4mb less than BT

Note, the customer service is extremely useless

If you go through Quidco it’s 22.95 for fibre. There’s other cheap deals through uswitch but for me this is the best deal overall

Parents in their 80's with 3 weeks left on Plusnet contract received a hard sell call, 45 mins later they'd signed up for another 12 Months. Nearly twice the price they were already paying. So I phoned them to cancel within the 14 days and request they revert back to the remainder of the existing contract. They only went and cancelled the whole lot including the line (left with no phone for 9 days) Had to get BT to reconnect. Then they disputed Father having paid the line rental upfront and wouldn't refund, despite me sending CC statement. Finally having got that back, instead of reinstating the existing contract, they once again signed them up for a rolling contract, which I'm now trying to cancel, they're now charging for that contract (£26.00 PM) despite parents being with a different provider for the last 2 Months! Absolute joke of a company
Try OneStream, they offer 38mb fibre broadband for £19.95 a month and only a 12 month contract!

I'm using them and no major issues.

To get the £19.95 price, you need to go through a Broadband Genie, which is an internet price comparison website. If you go to the Broadband Genie website via Quidco, they pay £25 cashback.

Pretty happy with them, in-coming speed to the router is 40mb download and 10mb upload. Unfortunately I loose a few megabytes of speed over WiFi. But when on Ethernet using my work laptop I am actually getting these speeds.
Talktalk are absolutely crap, internet is always down and trying to get hold of them is like trying to get blood out of a stone, the minute I switch to another provider they bombard me with letters and emails asking me to phone them, I’d never go with them again if someone paid the contract for me 0/10 from me !!

And yet I’ve always found them to be 99.999% reliable in service availability terms, very reasonably priced, and streets ahead of BT in customer service. Not that that’s particularly difficult!

They must pick and choose which customers they want to look after then because I’ve had nothing but trouble, I’ve got to wait until the 10th of this month before I change to someone else and it can’t come quick enough
Swapped from sky a couple of months ago. No problems at all and the new router is better from a range perspective and is probably the most solidly built free router I have been given. I even got a call yesterday from them to check everything was OK

I know that they have been dreadful in the past but I know there ceo is driving a strategy to raise their game hence I gave them a go

Same here. With them on and off for nearly 12 years now; good value for money and no issues.

TalkTalk updated mine last week £24.50 for 24 months I went on web chat after seeing this offer and asked why new customers get a better deal! I am now paying 22.45 for 24 months
I've been on TalkTalk Faster Fibre from March 2018 - on an 18 month contract - and have had nothing but trouble. Noise on line after rain makes connection drop out continually. I've had 7 Openreach engineer visits, where they manage to 'fix' it for a few days - then the next time it rains I'm back to where I started. Currently after 2 weeks of rain I'm connecting at 527/14999 - which is quite good considering sometimes I'm down to 7000 download, which is worse than I got on ADSL! Their only solution to the problem is to send an EIGTH Openreach engineer to see if he can do any better than the other 7. I've spent countless hours on the phone with them going through their scripted nonsense - waited in for days on end for engineers - and I'm no further forward than the first time I complained.

My contract is up in September - and I'm thinking of ditching my landline altogether, because those clowns at TalkTalk and Openreach don't seem capable of fixing the problem.
Talk talk is great as long as nothing goes wrong then they are useless. Speed wise sky was 36mb, their max they could give us and talk talk is 79mb pretty much solidly. Sadly we had the router rebooting 20 times a day as it was incompatible with the exchanges speed balancing. Three engineer visits and two new routers over 3 months and still no joy. In the end out of desperation we shelled out £30 for the new at the time talk talk router and it was all fixed instantly when we plugged it in. Shame we had to do it but they didn't believe it would make a difference. The PS4 didn't work at all well with any of the original black routers they sent us. That was a common problem they denied as well.
Been with TalkTalk for yrs never had a problem
I ordered this last night. I am currently with Plusnet FTTC and ordered an active line takeover. Today I got a call from TalkTalk. This is how it went:

TT: the active line takeover has failed, so we need to cancel this order and place a new order for a new line installation.

Me: why did the active line takeover fail?

TT: because it was rejected.

Me: ok, do you know why?

TT: the active line takeover failed because it has been rejected.

Me: would you be able to tell me why it’s been rejected.

TT: hello sir I have found out the active line take over has failed because it has been rejected.

At this point I’d decided to stay with Plusnet. Close shave.

Been with talktalk a long time currently paying £32 a month for faster fibre line rental unlimited calls 24/7 & talktalk tv works for me
Talktalk has been rock solid super stable for me since I signed up a few years ago. I keep renewing as the last time I swapped Openreach majorly screwed up and I ended up with someone elses number and no internet. If it aint Broke...
I'm another very happy talktalk customer. Been with them about 10 years and struggle to remember a single issue.
Recently moved to TT fibre and so far no issues. Even getting slightly better speeds than my prievious isp.
Just tried to sign up to this deal but apparently not available in my area

Exactly the same issue as when I tried to join Now Broadband. I believe it is because I do not live in a 'low cost area', so only the higher priced companies are willing to supply me. It is discrimination by postcode
Think I'll be wary after seeing them on Watchdog
Been with talk talk for about 5 years now and never had any problems. I was paying £25.50 for fibre then when i saw an offer of it being £22.50 i just rang them and told them about it and they let me have the offer. Same again a couple of months ago when it was offered at £19.95. Very happy. If only my energy bills came down and council tax at this rate I'd be over the moon
I signed up this week for Now Broadband, 25/month for 12 months, but including anytime calls. 90 TCB too.
Just tried to get fibre through Quidco and been refused - "no service available"! Then went direct through TalkTalk site and surprise! - phone line found! 😡
Anyone I know IRL (including me) who has used talktalk regretted it and got out.

And yet, despite the fact that it's fashionable to knock TalkTalk (even people who've never used it do it), there's a clear majority here saying it's just fine. And that's despite the general negativity on HUKD.

You must have been really unlucky. Or maybe haven't used it for a while.
TalkTalk have performed quite appallingly in moneysavingexpert's customer service poll. Better than before, but still the worst broadband supplier for customer service (of those companies where they could get high enough sample numbers). To add to the anecdotes though...we were with TalkTalk a couple of years ago and I have never encountered such a completely broken customer service model. Things might be ok if everything runs smoothly (unfortunately not the case for us), but you risk the Wild West of customer service if they don't.

I got out two years ago but then got tempted by the cheap Post Office broadband, which is run by talktalk. I'll be getting out again as soon as this contract ends. And the last friend to leave did so within the last year. Maybe everyone I know was unlucky - but I'm ging back to the provider I had last year, even if they do cost more.

Recently signed up for another unbeatable contract with TalkTalk. Nothing to touch them on price, and I'm now paying rather less than I was before the recent increase. Nice new router too.
