they are if you get a 'drift box' added onto your steering servo.

do you not need an esc for this to run?

sniff, I miss my simple and honest Hornet,,,had a Frog as well, wouldn't turn for ****!

Happy days!

Shame Tamiya is incredibly poor quality. There are much better brands available for about the same money - for example Maverick.

Admittedly I'd rather see Tamiya purchased than the cheap naff stuff from the likes of eBay and nitrotek, but still... I'd recommend visiting a brick and mortar model shop and picking up a Tamiya and comparing it to other brands first...!

Thanks! Just looked at a video, looks good!!

thought that but in the first post it said ESC-none

The Pajero Wheelie is also going cheap guys

Damn this site! something else I don't need but now desperately want!

I have two drift cars, a Tamiya TT-01 chassis and a Yokomo Drift car, the Yokomo has drift rings on the tyres etc it's a proper thing, but largely, the Tamiya drifts fine, standard motor nothing 'up rated' just stuff a bit of blu tac in the diff so it doesn't work and wrap electrical tape around the wheels (that really works much better than you think it will and lasts a lot longer than you think it will even on Tarmac) - a faster servo is always nice, but to get into it a stock servo on a TT-01 with taped wheels would get you into it cheap and reliably and it's fun as, cheap too and of you get bored of drift, untape the wheels and unstick the diff and you've got a touring/rally car to play with. It's easy as pie, take a couple of obstacles, something light like spare shoes or something, find a carpark and just practice drifting around them - what you might wanna invest in is a couple of packs of cells, a fast charger for your drive packs and spare set of rechargeables for your transmitter so you don't get stuck with no juice.

Wow, can't believe how long they make these kits for.. Feeling nostalgic I googled the Boomerang I bought 25 years ago - they still seem in production oO

Personally i'd look at one of the TT02 kits for around £150 (or the m-02 for a bit less). Shaft driven 4wd on the TT02 but the deal is that it's a 'proper' chassis - with likley longer lasting availability of spares and more hop ups around.

This rising fighter buggy just looks like a one trick pony - think of it as a step up from a £40 argos special.

So tempted by this

Still got the monster beetle I got 25 years ago - well still in the loft!

Ahhh happy Tamiya memories of broken chassis, snapped suspension and tyres that wear out in 10 minutes.

Me being a little ignorant here?, but .. what's an 'ESC' please ..... thanx. :-)

Heat added by the way.

Is there any warranty on these?

Probably not as you have to build it.

ESC = electronic speed controller.

Sweet .. thanx. :-)

That's the bonus... ESC's used to be quite an expensive upgrade... can think back long before they even existed

awfully tempted, no idea if I'd have the time for it but WANT

Wouldn't waste your time with a rising fighter. Spend more and get a lunch box - there is a reason it's cheap!!!

My friend owns one and he advised me with the drift RC cars if you ain't outta control you ain't in control

As an alternative if you want a proper rc buggy - team Durango are selling off last years model in a ready to race format. This is a racing buggy which has won many uk and international races. Its more expensive at £159.99 but you are getting a much better piece of kit thats a great deal in its own right. kit includes:

Race proven rolling chassis
brushless speed controller ESC and motor from a well known rc brand
waterproof servo
2.4ghz radio system
oil filled shocks
fully ball bearing kit
fully adjustable ride height, camber, caster etc...

this is a completely different animal to the tamiya but it may interest someone.

http://www.rccarshop.co.uk/index.php/race-models/team-durango-dex210-race-ready-rtr-red-5436.html

you will also need a battery and charger for this model, the model shop in the link sell a basic charger and 1800mah NiMH battery for 23.99

Great deal, I used to own a tamiya monster beetle, hardly used it though

What's the speed of that Durango? about 30mph? Surely for ni-on £200 we should expect 40 at least lol. Been a while since I had my 50mph nitro rc car. That thing I had was blazing fast and sounded great but very unreliable, always wanted to stall if not revved enough, was properly tuned too.

I wanted to get a petrol one. (I was looking last night) but I know nothing about them. Are they not as good or just more expensive. Any deals?

I had a Sand Scorcher and a Hotshot. Happy days...

Nitro are great fun if you know what you are doing. For a beginner I would not recommend - stick with electric.

I had a Boomerang, good fun. That was 25 years ago - why the heck do they still make the same stuff???

Guess who allocated too little stock to the website... offer not expired...

Got my son a sand viper for Christmas, make sure you take your time and build it right and they are great. No problem on sand or grass unlike the cheap ones.
Like somebody else mentioned go to a bricks and mortar shop, this will be just a step up from a tesco one.

They went out of production for ages then were reissued in 2008 I think

Just use a cheap rate gyro for aircraft - I paid £8 for mine - can probably get cheaper now - tames my Yokomo down a notch

There's another bundle on the site with a Wheel controller rather than a Stick controller - £109.
Pro/Cons of a Wheel controller anyone? Cheers

1 battery, and an overnight charger. You will get 10mins out off this, then 16 hours to charge it.
