Nice to see a tamiya deal on here!!
This version also needs remote etc.
Quite dear for a lunch box? (meals on wheels)
Genuinely thought this was a lunch box, I'll quietly go back under my rock
Not big enough for vanessa feltz

I had the Grasshopper when I was a kid, great RC car.

As previously mentioned you will need a radio system, ESC, battery and charger to complete this.
Cheaper at timetunnelmodels
Ah the lunchbox, was a good un back in the day... had lots of RC's, never got this.... (inner child clicks on link )
Tamiya Hotshot 2 was my RC choice, still got it awaiting my son getting careful enough to use it. Might let him have a go for his 18th.

That’s without ESC. So for £5.90 you might as well go with the esc on this deal.

Ahhh actually looks like the Amazon one has the esc removed as well. Normal Tamiya supply an esc with the kit.

Just need to find an empty beach nearby.
Beatties? would sell the Tamiya catalogue, so many in the catalogue they never had in the store. I had a Mardave Meteor if I recall

Original Cats are worth a fair bit now, same with Optima Mids.

We have this re released Lunchbox and it’s superb, just the same as the original. I also have the Grasshopper but need to build it up yet.

Son got an FTX Vantage for Xmas, now that thing is a beast.

I was never into RC stuff myself when I was a kid, but when my 10 year old hinted at a 'Proper RC Car' (somewhere in between the cheap £20 battery and mucho more expensive Nitro/Petrol) a few months before Xmas I figured the "Grasshopper" might be a good idea after seeing it mentioned on here and a few posters were reminiscing about how much they loved theirs when they were kids.

I ended up getting one from "TimeTunnelModels" as mentioned, who I have to say were great and gave great advice.

However, guess who had to build it on Xmas day?

A few days later, I took my son and his new RC Grasshopper to a play park, which had that rubberised floor and which was frost covered and he loved it! It was in fact perfect as he was able to drift his RC car around obstacles with ease.

The upgraded battery was a good idea too as we were there a good 45 minutes and the battery seemed to still ahve plenty of life left in it.

It did cost around £130 all in (with better battery/charger and upgraded controller), but was well worth it in my opinion.

Quite tempted to get him this "Lunchbox" too, but.........

£140+ with all the extras needed!

Not sure if the van body is initially white, but if so, then add in the cost of paint too @ £6 per item.

I used to stare at the Tamiya RC cars in Taylor McKenna as a kid. I wanted a Hornet so bad. I've tried to get my boys interested a few times but they won't take the bait. So I may just buy myself one.

I plan to get back into it at some point and restore them all, i think i had a Schumacher Cougar too thinking about it although i'm sure thats in bits.
