90mm F2.8 for £512might as well get the nikkor 85mm f1.8G £427

This is a macro lens. The nikon isn't.

In my opinion they are not good

I’ve got the non VC model, and it’s excellent. I’m a Pro photographer specialising in macro. If you want to see some of the images I’ve taken with the lens, go to my website

Rubbish lens
I've been watching for a price drop on this for a long time. It's been about this price a couple of times altho I think this is the lowest. I have an earlier version and love it. Sadly £500 is still too rich for me when I have similar that does the job beautifully. Heat anyway.

What’s wrong with it?

Dont listen to him,Nothing is wrong with tamron is good,
I used the non vc model and it's amazing. Esp as it was £100 used. This is a great price new for the vc

Good price for an exceptional lens, there are no negatives, people who state otherwise honestly don't know their stuff

Care to elaborate or give any clues as to why please?

e.g. Slow performance? Difficulty focusing? Distorted end product/image? Poor build quality? Dishonest or exaggerated specifications? Poor zoom abilities? Limited warranty? Poor customer service? Unethical standards? Inaccurate stock? Priced too highly?
Having had two copies of predecessor models, it is certainly not rubbish. It is excellent and overall perhaps my favourite lens. Very light, albeit it missing the weather-proofing and stabilisation of the newer model, and with fantastic colours and boheh.

As a negative, autofocus can hunt in poor light and autofocus can be slow, but that's true of any macro moving through its range.

You got an absolute bargain!
I had the predecessor and the Tokina and Sigma equivalent. Of the lot the Sigma 105 OS was the best for both Macro and normal photography. I eventually moved to Sigma 150 OS which was the best macro lens i have ever used but could be used for action shots too. I have had other Tamron lenses and found their quality control is inconsistent. This seems quite expensive for what it is.

Yeah
Some of the best lenses come from third parties. I bet people wouldn’t turn their nose up at a lens with a Zeiss badge on it 👀

Those photos are great.

I’m partly inspired, partly wishing I had the ability to capture pictures anywhere near as good.

That’s very kind of you. You have to start somewhere. I went through many years of disappointment and learning. Still learning everyday! Best of luck

My dad used to be a pro photographer. I have the eye for the shots/angles/framing, but my knowledge of the technical stuff and buttons and what to change to get an effect is weak. I take good pictures, just not great.

And you’re welcome
Can anyone offer any help please?
Recently acquired a Tamron AF 70-300mm. 62mm. Any idea worth?

If it’s what I think it is, I bought one with my very first Canon DSLR kit years ago and it was £109 then. So likelihood is not worth much anymore.
