Do you have the original price? My price knowledge is a bit dusty. Inflation has caught up since I last had my SLR
Pretty sure the canon lens is £759 at e-infinity

Cheers. Didn’t realise that. Do you know of Sigma are the same?
I know that Sony will look after you I matter where you buy the lens.
Get a Nikon P900 or P1000 - focal-length range of 24–3000mm ;-)
Is that optical or digital? I am assuming digital.

Yep most is optical range with final 5-10% digital - look on youtube - you can zoom in onto the moons surface and see the craters - I have the P900 - just brilliant for long zooms! Will get the P1000 at some point to complement my Sony A7 R IV
You can buy used sigma 150-600 for about £550 - 600 to save even more money. And the lens is better
I have the older version and it's great

Big lens, tiny sensor.

Yep but perfect for it’s one trick
For a cheap introduction into astro photograph etc. it's possible to buy adaptors to connect DSLRs to telescopes. You obviously lose auto focus etc. but it works.

I agree. For people who leave their DSLR in auto, bridge cameras like that are probably better and a much cheaper way to get something with a big zoom. DSLRs are hugely versatile and great for when things get more creative, but you need to learn how to use them to get the best out of them (I'm definitely not an expert but have done a few courses which were really worthwhile).
A great lens at a great price for a non-Grey Import. Currently use this every week for my non-league football photography.
Looks like you may find one on lovehoney
This is a great lens. I use mine with Nikon crop sensor and full frame cameras. It is lighter than the Sigma equivalents, and results are brilliant.
