Father and son, mother and daughter, a mixture of the two or two friends working as a team: this is a bonding experience the likes of which you’ve never seen before, as one (the grown-up) gets into the driving seat while the other (the smaller one) mans the turret on this Dads and Lads Tank Driving Experience.

Firstly the instructor will demonstrate with a lap around the track, so you can get familiar with the controls required and prepare to show off your skills to the gunner. There’s two laps to go on with which to prove your tank driving mettle, one with the hatches open and the fresh air whipping past your head and the other with the hatches closed and nothing but the limited view of a periscope to guide your way.

At a point along the track you’ll pull over to let your gunner prove their worth, loading the turret, taking aim down the sights and firing a 40mm paintball on the special target range. With free entry to the onsite museum included, this is sure to be a fun driving day out for tank fans of all ages

-----

What happens on the day?

After arriving at least 15 minutes before your experience is scheduled to start, you’ll both check in at the tank driving reception before being equipped with a tank suit and Kevlar helmet.

Once you’re beside your vehicle your tank driving instructor will give you a detailed safety briefing before securing you in your seat and taking you around the track to familiarise you with the course. After that you’ll move into the driver’s position to take the tank around for two laps, one with the hatches open, one looking through the periscope, while your miniature crew-mate will man the guns. When you pull up at the target range it’s time for your gunner to shine, working the gun to fire at the distant target.

At the end of the drive you’ll both have free entry into the onsite military collection and museum.

Pedant mode="ON": It's not a tank, it's an armoured personnel carrier. Pedant mode="OFF"

Otherwise that looks like fun, I'd love to take my boy, but it's a bit too far to go.

20,000 deals, do you never sleep ? Makes my 42 look wimpy oO
This looks really awesome. My husband and son would have loved it but unfortunately there is a height restriction of 6'04" and OH is 6'05" ☹️
FV432 is an APC, and looks nothing like a tank.
With Ryan Air sometimes you can get cheap tickets to Syria and you get the tank driving experience for free.
I've done a tank driving experience before and I would not recommend it to those who are either really tall or especially rotund.

It was quite the squeeze to get in, especially the mbt and I'm 5"11,my shins were rather shredded after that day ,and that included a mobile artillery and apc
After spending many years driving tracked vehicles.. can honestly say there's nothing more fun than ripping up the ground at 40mph in these things

I don't think you spelled pedant correctly....... there are too many letters in it...... think about it.......think about it...

Last thought going through your head as the track crushes it, "mmmm is this a tank or is it an APC?"

Yes, I can't see why not
12% quidco ? as well
Did one of these last year. It was good fun. Have some heat
I go to Bovington, much wider range of military toys to play with; plus Monkey World right next door, for the non Tank fans.

Good practice for the school run - especially if you buy an APC to carry the kids in.
I will stick with my tommy tank, thanks
Did this yesterday on a one man experience, very good fun! Well worth the money, museum is also nice to look around.
Awesome!! Heat

You should ask him anyway. I bet even the idea probably has him jumping about like a kid again. Who doesn't relish the prospect of driving a tank
Who doesn't love tanks totally ridiculous vechicals in today's warfare but who can doubt a T34 in its day

He doesn't like anything that reminds him of the past - he says, I was there, I don't need to see it again..

Routing? Are you running PFSense?
I did this a couple of weekends ago and it was great fun.
If you are nearby then I would recommend going for it.
If this is at Armourgeddon, one of my old Army mates works here, might need to see if he can get mates rates on this!
