TANNOY MERCURY V4i £199.95 @ Richer Sounds

Found 20th Dec 2015
With its new tweeter unit, the Tannoy Mercury V4i offers a more detailed sound than before yet still has power to spare.

BRAND NEW TREBLE UNIT WITH IMPROVED HIGH FREQUENCY RESPONSE

The Tannoy Mercury V4i features a brand new metal dome tweeter that replaces the old soft dome one. This gives the V4i a more detailed treble response and the ability to produce frequencies right the way up to 53,000Hz! Although this is well above what we can hear it does mean that the high frequencies we can hear are less affected by harmonic distortion. The result is a 'sweet' and 'airy' treble that's usually the preserve of more expensive speakers.

I've ordered them from Amazon. You can get them here:

Seems a good price
Ahhhhhh I need these !
It's a speaker system, oh wait, it is indeed a Tannoy.
I recently auditioned my friend's £20,000 audio system, I often wondered if the extra money made that much of a difference. Well it was very good sounding but worth £20K? I'm not so sure. Then again you get people raving about speaker cable this particular one is £43,399 for 4m of cable >

There are people out there who more interested in the promise of exceptional audio performance rather than the actual performance itself. They are prepared to pay tens of thousands of pounds to buy into a story of how unique the product is, what they are actually interested in is the social currency of that product. And they end up placing these "high spec" speakers in a high ceiling room with wooden floors and glass panels.........
These are the same people that believe cuban cigars taste better because they were rolled on a virgin girl's thighs. Reasoning with them is pointless.

What about the rest of the system?
You can make some of the best speaker cable going out of cheap Cat5, just a bit of useless information

I also have auditioned a £20K Naim system with a top spec Rega turntable...and yes it sounded great and of course volume control was not an issue in a detached house sitting in its 2 acre plot.....so in reality you need a lot of wealth to really get the benefits of such an expensive system....I'll have to make do with my ancient Audiolab/Ruak system which is all I really need in my modest abode.
are these good for music and movies, i need some new fronts for my 5.1 system.

I can't see why not. Remember though, speakers have their own characteristics and they might stick out like a sore thumb compared to what you have.
cheers, i only have a soundbar, going back to 5.1 after i sell it.

It's a shame they don't do a 5m version, otherwise I would have bought them.
