Hi everyone,

I wanted to say how good these speakers are. I purchased a Denon ARV and paired it up with these speakers. What a combo..

They are amazing value for money. Great mids, the bass off the Sub is excellent. For £150 you can't go wrong.

^^^^^ agreed

what are they like for playing music? through, I know obviously they are for home cinema, I have a 7.1 amp and need some surround speakers but I use the amp for music via airplay and Google music. I don't expect them to sound as good as the tall speakers I currently use but are these passable?

Ditto though used them in a 7.1 setup with some full range bookshelf speakers at the front. Sound great, particularly the sub which is nice and low and not punchy like some others I have had. Only complaint would be the supplies wall brackets are a bit flimsy? Also, been at this price a while though? Heat added anyway!

I never thought about doing 7.1 with my original speakers as the front 2! feel a right Muppet!! saying that they may have to be put away for a while as my 10month old son is drawn to them like a moth to light

can anyone recommend an amp and blue ray player to go with y these

I can honestly say they are fantastic. Internet radio isn't bad. I Airplay to my Denon using Spotify, the sound quality is lovely. I highly recommend these speakers. PS they look really nice in silver.

thank you kiltman, that's good to know.

These are very good for the price and punch well above their weight. My folks have this installed at their place whereas I have a system costing 5 or 6 times as much. Whilst you can hear the difference you wouldn't guess that these were 20% of the price!

Great speaker set had it for about 2 years with a onkyo 607 amp . Make sure you get some good speaker wire. ones supplied arent great.

1 up on these. Bought at xmas. Paired with Onkyo (525 I think)
Sound amazing especially watching full DTS movies.
However need a further 2 speaker to match to upgrade to 7.1, anyone have any ideas on a decent pair to match these ?

P.S. use these as the main front left & right channels if you are planning to add two additional speakers for 7.1 setup.

These are Great Speakers and not too big (so the wife doesnt moan so much lol)...

I have had these & the EFX range, they are "good" for the size & "excellent" for value, although I got mine for less than £100 from CPC some time ago. However, these are what they are & like many a man, I submitted to woman power in buying these to replace my Mission Bookshelf Speakers & they were leaps & bounds better than these, a whole new ball game. If space & price is an issue, these are a perfect fit, but if u have the space & a few more quid, get bookshelf speakers

I have a Jamo A102 HCS 5 speaker set would people say the Tannoy are better than the Jamo?

I'm a complete audio novice, if I bought these and an additional 2 speakers to make them a 7.1, what else would I need to connect to my tv and ps4??

These are only the speakers & sub, you would need an AV Receiver to obtain sound. In truth, very few films/games are in 7.1 & the ones that are, aren't really worth the additional outlay unless you have a massive room.

If you watch alone, get some PX4 Turtle Beach Headphones, if you want to share the experience & want speakers, any AV Receiver & any speakers will be better than TV sound. If budget & space is an issue but you want a better sound, a Sound Bar can be a good alternative, but in truth, anything is better than TV speakers no matter how good your TV is

No, I would say on par, not worth the additional outlay to change imo

i have these. they are good for the size but i find they lack presence in music. setup can be a problem but that was my old amp. sound good but looking to sell mine as going the floorstanders and better surrounds. nice for the price though.

Thank you I think I have one speaker that is a bit damaged when a film gets really intense it makes a horrible noise but playing music really loud is normally fine so I was thinking of replacing the whole set as it looks impossible to replace the speaker inside and speakers on ebay are really expensive.

I have these twinned with a Denon AVR 1911 - Very good speakers (the guy at Richer Sounds talked me out of buying a Pioneer set and told me to get these instead and im glad i did!)

It's true, not a lot of things are encoded in 7.1 but a lot of 7.1 amps will upscale 5.1 by effectively mixing the front and rear channels for your side speakers ( I presume) which sounds great (however it does it!).

Got these. Pretty much faultless. Started on a Harmon Kardon amp and now fitted to a Onkyo. Been best buy of my life.

thanks for the help guys, any recommendations for a decent 7.1 amp? budget for the amp is about £50 - £100? would be willing to spend a touch more if it was worth it

You're welcome !

Hi all, any idea if these are much better than the Onkyo SKSHT528 speakers I have? Thanks.

Real cinematic experience lol

Frequency response (-6dB) 140Hz - 78kHz???? WTF?? My monitor audio apex go up to 40kHz :))

Good buy if you are on a budget :))

I have these, had them on a cheap Samsung amp for about 3 years and sounded OK. Bought a new Onkyo 626 amp at christmas and they sound like a whole new speaker system - Amazing.
Great set for the Money, Make sure your AV amp is Man enough for the job and they will sound sweet.

I've got these badboys - the work a treat. I paid a lot more 3 years ago. Good deal.

tbh on that budget its pointless unless u try Ebay & get a 2nd hand one. Go to Richer Sounds & get a 5.1 system, 7.1 really is not worth the extra outlay especially as these are only a 5.1 system & u would then need to buy additional 2 speakers that will likely cost you almost the same as the full set. Richer Sounds have £100 AV Receivers, so one of those, this speaker set + all the cables on a budget looking at £300, not cheap if u dont know what ur looking for. Get a sound bar from Amazon or Argos (at least u can return if u dont like) Spend between £80 to £150, only real difference between prices will be RMS & whether or not the sub is integral, wired or wireless. Do not get integral as can be tinny. RMS is basically the power, budget Sound Bars emit around 60W RMS but most TV's only have 5 or 10W RMS so 60 in most peoples lounges is just fine

They aren't pretty, but they sound great.

Had these for a couple of years. Currently using them with a Yamaha RX-V673, and they sound brilliant.

Great price.

That's surely a typo.....more likely to be 18KHz..

Hi guys,

I'm looking for an amp and speaker set, but budget constraints mean I can't afford more than £350 for everything.

I'm happy with getting the tanny sfx speaker, but I'm not sure about what amp I should go for.

I've only found a new Harmon Kardon avr 171 on richer sounds or I can go for an older Pioneer VSX-920 from gumtree. What makes/models can you recommend?

PS: I want to be able to stream music from my android phone and be able to listen to music from the internet.

Thanks

These with the £99 Denon AV would make for a great budget home theatre system.

I have these at home, bought some time ago. Really good sound quality, especially for the price. The guy at Richer Sounds recommended them above some more expensive sets. Well worth it at that price!
