This package consists of the Tannoy Mercury V4, VC, VR in Sugar Maple and the Tannoy SFX subwoofer in black.

RIGID CABINETS FOR SONIC ACCURACY

Now in its fifth generation, the Tannoy Mercury V range is better than ever. For this version of this budget classic, Tannoy has revised the cabinets making them both larger and better braced. The larger cabinets boost dynamic response and low end vocal response for more natural dialogue. The improved bracing makes the cabinets more rigid, improving the neutrality of sound.

HI-FI QUALITY DRIVE UNITS ALL ROUND

Contained within the cabinets are similarly impressive drive units. The bass cones are lighter and more rigid than before, making the sound faster to respond and the mid-range more detailed. The treble unit has been changed, too, and has been picked for its exceptional accuracy at this price point. New cabinets, woofers and tweeters make for a pretty comprehensive upgrade but Tannoy haven't left it at that. The crossovers have been tweaked and the internal cabling is silver-plated oxygen-free copper; usually the preserve of much more expensive speakers.

POWERFUL BASS

Larger than average, the V4 Mercury front speakers boast a large internal volume for potentially deep and sustained bass. Thanks to the twin, 152mm woofer units this is easily facilitated. With a dedicated bass woofer within each cabinet you'll benefit from a powerful bass - and that's before you take the Tannoy SFX subwoofer into account. With a maximum power output of 100 watts the Tannoy SFX sub certainly isn't short of oomph. Yet, as you'd expect from a brand of such distinction, the sound is always well-controlled and cohesive when matched with the other speakers.

DEDICATED TO HOME CINEMA

Based upon the award-winning Tannoy Mercury V1 but redesigned for dedicated home cinema use, the Tannoy Mercury VR rear speakers offer an ideal compromise between small satellite and full-size speakers. Reconfigured to work directly against a wall and with a depth of just 121.5mm, the Mercury VRs are remarkably unobtrusive. A four-way fixing bracket on the rear of speaker allows for either portrait or landscape mounting. Finally, by inverting the tweeter and woofer, the Mercury VR is ideally suited to rear positioning where speakers are inevitably higher than the fronts. Inverting the drive units brings the tweeter closer to your ears and, hence, makes fine detail easier to distinguish.

PERFECTLY BALANCED SOUND QUALITY

When taken together, all these features add up to a very impressive sounding speaker package. Although dynamic and punchy, as you'd expect from this size of speaker pack, the Tannoy Mercury Cinema Pack is also extremely refined and detailed. There's a level of clarity that you wouldn't usually expect from a speaker package of this size and price.

SUGAR MAPLE FINISH

In addition to raising the game in terms of sound quality, Tannoy also offers superior style to many rivals. Instead of a series of boring black boxes, Tannoy finishes all the speakers in a decor-friendly 'Sugar Maple' with brushed aluminium trim detailing. For a cleaner look, all the speakers come with detachable cloth grilles. The SFX subwoofer is finished in matte black and can easily be hidden out of sight.

Provided you're not concerned about compact sizing, the Tannoy Mercury V4 5.1 delivers probably the best sound in its class - pure and simple.

Google is your friend for plenty for good reviews. (Some reviews are for the individual speakers on there own not as part of the kit)

In all honesty heard them in Richer Sounds today although didn't actually think at the time to hear 2.1 through them. I'm going back on Saturday to pick mine up if you don't hear them for yourself by then or if someone else replies.

Yeah the floor standers included in this set went hot on there own at £200 mark and look what you get with this for the extra £150.

hotukdeals.com/dea…411

Blimey, that's a great price.

Wow great price! Very tempted to upgrade my little speakers

i hate hotuk ,,i was quite happy with my little sony surround sound ..now am off to richer sounds in morning oO
thanks op

a bargain considering you get flooratanders , bookshelf and a sub albeit an entry level ones...it will definitely outperform "style speaker" packages costing twice as much...Used to own Kef HD2 speakers and once I moved to a full MS Mezzo system ( costed me the same ) the difference was enormous...

Great price!

Phone the police... This is a steal !!

I own a Pioneer VSX-827 and Tannoy TFX 5.1 system. As the amp outputs 7.1 channels I purchased the Tannoy V4 floor standers as my front L/R channels.

In all honesty I thought the sound was impressive just using the 5.1 TFX speakers.
Trust what hifi. They know what they are talking about. They rated the V4 speakers at 5* upto £700. That is what swung it for me when I decided to stump up the cash for them as I was toying with the idea of buying the Roth OLi 40 or the newer Roth OLi RA4.

I paid £299 for the V4's and was astounded at how good they are. So impressed in fact I just paid another £105 for the Tannoy VC centre channel.

The sound is superb. Really.
The speakers are BIG. The VC speaker is more than twice the size of my original TFX centre speaker ! That said, the sound clarity and quality is probably twice that of the TFX speakers as they are a little lacking in the mid range.

At this price though - go for it, you won't be disappointed. I'm a little gutted as its too late for me to return my speakers to grab this deal but then again I didn't want the sugar maple finish in the first place

Rrrrrrrgh! SO tempted!

Anyone know if these would be a little bit overkill for a small apartment living room? :P

Might be its great speakers, but trust me, WHAT HIFI is the last review page i go to. They are commercial beach, and rate any shait 5 stars. they USED to be fair review company!

Torn between these or Q Acoustics range (no richer sounds or such to test), do the fronts compare favorably to Q Acoustics 2020i/2050i speakers in sound quality? No doubt the price is worth it but they are quite old speakers now and reviews praise Q Acoustics current speaker designs.

Tempted but the wife will kill me.

Probably. But they perform well at low volume levels if you're the sort that is considerate towards neighbors, but ultimately, overkill would depend on how small your living room is.

Take a look at the dimensions of all those speakers and subwoofer and measure up. Only you can be the judge on what you deem to be overkill.

Same here buddy
Shall we go for it? If yes - we need to say goodbye to HUKD community X)

Looks awesome and good looking system. Better than the standard shabby black.

I got an onkyo system from Richer SOunds a few years back via the Hot deals website. It still works brill to this day.

Good job it wasn't my sole point of reference then. It's always good to refer to the AV forums to gather information, reviews and opinions from the owners.
With regards to WHAT HIFI I can't dispute their opinion these. I'm well happy !
I assume you have a story to tell judging by your opinion towards them ?

Which ones did you see ??

It sounds to me like you're looking for a satellite speaker system ?

The tannoy's sound a bit muffled in my opinion prefer the wharfedale that are similar price

I so want to get my floor standers back out but my youngest has started climbing up things and will risk pulling it over

fantastic speakers, I have the older ones (which Im selling as Im moving to the US) love em.

Hey, I have the V4's and VC in 2.1 (I'm not sure if they are the exact same version as these ones as I bought them about 6 months ago, from a private seller for £20!!) and they are really great, I had some Wharfedales before in 2.1 and the difference was incredible. I think where they really shine is being able to deliver low, hard bass but also powerful, crisp high notes. Makes a big difference when watching a movie; the explosions don't have to be make-the-neighbours-complain loud just to hear what people are saying in other parts of the movie. I do miss having rear speakers though...

Almost ditto!

I have Eltax Liberty floorstanders, centre and sub and Wharfedale Modus Cube surrounds.

Been thinking about upgrading them for a while but not sure just how much of an upgrade these would be The sound from the current system is still pretty decent so they'd need to be good to make it worth my while.

But have also been thinking of switching to smaller fronts so I can wall mount them. And also thinking of a complete refit of the living room so I can fit a projector and screen. If I do that, I'll be wanting to run all my cabling under the floor so I'll need to know what I'm putting where in advance ...

Arrrrggghhh!!! What to do .....

Not a bad price, for anyone after a more serious higher quality speaker then lots of dealers are clearing out the Monitor Audio RX (Silver) range of speakers for silly prices, these are superb speakers and very high quality, I picked up a set of RX1, RX Centre and RXFX for £750 recently, that is a steal. I'd suggest phoning some dealers as there aint may left with these at silly prices.

Couldn't resist (_;)
Ordered!

May I ask which dealer you bought the Monitor Audio's from please? I wouldn't mind getting another pair of RXFX's if I can get hold of them for a decent price.

Would have went for these but havn't got the room.

Do these seem like a good deal? Thanks

This and the new Call of Duty.... Neighbours are gonna hate me..

If anyone has a spare voucher please let me know

I can tell you guys right now these speakers, at least the floor standers in 2 channel stereo, are STUNNING. I have owned and used mine now for over a year, and their performance are far far above their price tag. In fact they are WHAT HIFI award winners, and their bracket was best floor standers £350-700 pounds, that says it all really....

Trust me, I have owned HIFI worth far more, Arcam and Proac system I owned, was worth 3.5k, and these speakers with just a £200 stereo am give them a real run for their money.

These speakers sound fast, warm, agile with great clarity and very good bass. They go loud easily and are easy to drive. I have a marantz stereo amp, and a Music streamer 2 usb only DAC, with a usb cable running from my macbook to the dac then using a pair basic phono L&R channel stereo audio cable, the system sounds well over £1k worth, but costs far far less.....

If I did not already own the floor standers I would be ALL OVER THIS.

Just buy it..... seriously.

Regards.

Worth replacing Mission M73 range with these?

Also anyone with a vouche care to post up a scan like the AV one?
