Both ourselves and manufacturers like Tassimo are responsible for our environment. They got to provide better recycling options. All these news on how our environment is worsened because of the amount of plastic waste. Tassimo needs to at least deal with the current situation to provide better recycling facility or more collection points. Then maybe start looking at alternative material for their T-Disc, no more plastic if possible.
Coffee pods = environmental disaster
I agree with the above comments, the coffee is fine but each pod is made of heavy plastic and I now have a garage full of them because my nearest recycling point is far away and only opens briefly. Cant help feeling the recycling places are only there to tick a box. I may go back to using my Senseo which uses basically a big teabag.

Got mine today. Also comes with 2 £10 off order codes for pods
Are there any cheaper alternatives to the Tassimo pods? Aldi only seems to be Nespresso alternatives? Great price very tempted
I have a Tassimo machine but they has not provided a good recycling service.
Where I live in Manchester, there is only 1 recycling collection point and open just weekdays 9am-4pm.
Before they resolve this problem, I am not going to buy any more T disc coffee from them.

check out your area for recylcing collection before you buy their machine!

Heat added. That’s a couple of Christmas presents sorted, thanks.

The nearest to me is 125 miles away! Not very good. But I clean and save the pods, until I eventually go to a recycling town.
Sorry for being stupid... I'm not much of a coffee drinker but this looks like a great xmas prezzie for the father-in-law.

Will this unit work with non-tassimo compatible pods?

Is it possible to use refillable pods for these?

Is there nowhere to mail them into?
Don’t think there’s any such thing as Tassimo compatible pods.

I can't find any information from their website. It look like they only do drop off collection.

Tassimo use a third party company called Terracycle for recycling.

it will only work with tassimo ones. there are plenty to choose from.
I'm on my second machine (List the first one in a divorce) Easy to use, pods are cheap in Cosco plus keep your eyes out from Tassimo for offers. Some really nice coffee.

You can get loads more off. There’s a part that says on the website somewhere ‘register your machine’ but it doesn’t actually ask for any details only what machine you have or select ‘other’ If not listed. It then gives you two £10 vouchers and it allows you to do this 3 times so just do it again once you’ve used your first two and they have dates on the vouchers but they give you a good amount of time on them. I use them all the time and it works out so much cheaper, there is usually a discount on like 10/15% off if you spend over £45 then you use your discount on top. Top cashback also gives you a decent amount back and ive never had a problem using it with the discounts
You can tell Christmas is coming..... bought this last year at Christmas at same price then it goes back up to +£50 for another year then back down and so on.

WHAT there is a recycling service for pods in Manchester, I never knew they had one, possibly explains the increase in thinner pods that have a tendency to blow-up in the machines and make a mess. My local council have said due to mixture of foil and plastic not to recycle them.

However, as tassimo have changed to damp powder milk, I still have the original large tassimo milk pods. I recycle by refilling them with a 50ml enteric syringe and a tap washer in-between to stop real milk spills. The latte tastes so much better.

I recommend buying Nespresso machine from JL on the basis of taste flexibility and quality instead. Do not buy tassimo, and Currys customer service is the 'standard run around like a headless chicken' talk to many people over the phone only for them not to provide any cover if anything goes wrong. Too many negatives with Tassimo, read the previous threads.

Still works out almost double the costs of buying pods from Amazon or supermarket. The vouchers are really bad value and essentially a con to make you spend more.
It's a good deal but sadly the t discs are a lot more expensive than other pods. I've got a Tassimo machine that I've only used about 5 times on 3 years. Factor in that cost as well.

No it’s not more expensive than amazon in the slightest. I looked at prices on amazon multiple times and they work out a lot more expensive. It’s £20 for 5 packs of Costa latte and for an extra 6 pound on their website I get either 9-10 packs depending on the offer at the time. I have ordered it multiple times. Rather than it costing £4 a pack on amazon which is the same price as b&m anyway it actually costs around £2.60 per pack.

are the used pods actually recycled I wonder? I think allot of the UK's 'recycled' waste is just shipped abroad.

Not really no, Tassimo uses a barcode so no-one can produce the knock-off pods without getting the barcode right, otherwise they won't work.

The original type Nespresso capsules have been around much longer and don't use any kind of barcode, they are simply a capsule of coffee so are much easier to copy.

You can get Tassimo capsules from Costco if you have a membership and they sometimes work out cheaper there when on offer.

You can't really get compatable pods for Tassimo.
£29 for coffee machine £30 for 100 capsules from Amazon

£59 for a lot of coffee bargain if you ask me heat

Amazon - Variety 100 pack
Thanks OP

Had a Tassimo ages ago. Liked the coffee but 'misplaced' the machine in a move...

So just bought this, then did Liam's post on here to 'register' the machine to get £10 off then placed an order direct through Tassimo using their deal (also on here) for free delivery and 20% off. And I went through TCB to get another 12% off.

So I got the Machine and 10 packs of coffee/hot chocolate for about £53 all in (after cashback). Happy to jump through a few hoops to get that.

There is a local charity shop near me that takes in lots of plastics for recycling & they get cash for them so mine go there
Morrisons has offer on at moment for the pods
This is a super price! Thanks very much for sharing.
Better spending a bit more on a bean2cup. These Tassimo pods are rotten. Couldn't get rid of mine fast enough.

the cheap prices of these machines remind me of many years ago when printers were dirt cheap to buy
but the INK was expensive in the cartridges that fitted the printers

You should of thrown the plastic pods on the nearest bonfire this week, save you space in your garage
Can anyone help please? I was going to get a Tassimo Vivy 2 for my partner for Xmas, but this looks a bit more compact (which is good)... What's the difference between the Happy and the Vivy?
