Can i blame lack of coffee and kids on half term? Yes i can...
Thanks
Ah, I live here...
I actually contacted them about this maybe a year or two ago asking if they would consider a return to base recycling scheme stating surely they can re-use them if we can't. They replied stating put them in your recycling bin. Hmmm... they really DO care about the environment.
I bought 11 packs of drinks from the website using the 20% and £10 voucher and came to £27 odd. No where could I get them cheaper. The vouchers and % discount are the cheapest you can bulk buy the pods
My fella has the Vivy and I have the Happy (purple and white, although it’s more a magenta pink!!!)
The Happy is a bit smaller but that’s about the only real difference.
The Happy is made by Tassimo for The Dixon’s group, so they are the only ones who sell it.
It’s a cracking little machine, nice to be able to have a Costa at home - only negative is the pods do seem to have a lot left in them even when you have used them.
We have a little pile ready to recycle! xoxo
Thanks my love. I went with the Happy in the end, still not happy about giving up any more of my precious worktop space but hopefully it won't look too obtrusive x
DON'T BUY THESE
I'm a coffee aficionado but I'm also not into waste. These, and ALL coffee pod type machines are CRAP! They don't heat the coffee enough which means the WHOLE UNIT is a HUGE waste of resources. They under fill the pods, so the price of coffee is much higher and there is an incentive to use more pods. They are waste, and generate more plastic waste - at some point we need to all get real and stop buying this pointless crap. Please don't buy these for presents as it's just perpetuating the cycle of waste.
These pod machines were obsolete the moment they were designed...they should never have been produced. There are far superior and fun methods to make a perfect cup of Joe, so there is no reason to reinvent the wheel. These units are profit driven only. The manufacturers know they are an environmental disaster. They are consumer TAT and have a huge negative environmental externality.
I emailed Hot UK Deals around 4 months ago about these coffee pod machine deals (and other consumer TAT that they should not be promoting). I asked them to start to remove them on environmental 'grounds'...pun intended. Unfortunately Hot UK Deals have not done this yet, but hopefully if more Hot UK Deal people flag this they will think again.
Get him an Italian stove pot - it makes the best coffee by far, they are fun to use, the coffee is hot and they last more than a life time. Sometimes you see them in charity shops for peanuts.
I run a coffee business and all my customers who use these types of machines do so with a sense of guilt.
1) The plastic waste is terrible.
2) The cost is expensive
3) The coffee isn’t always pure arabica and not good quality
4) none of the coffee is organic or fair trade
5) support local business by buying this type of grinder and filter set coffeehit.co.uk/cle…tml
6) Buy high quality, well sourced and tasty coffee from independents NOT Nescafe and their questionable ethics:
cliftoncoffee.co.uk/pro…es/
For me it’s the difference between a locally brewed wine, ale or IPA vs Budweiser.

Because they provide terrible experience of recycling??
This or that machine from Argos? I don't mind paying the extra if it means saving money in long run whilst saving the planet and having better quality coffee
No no no! They are pointless...even if they gave them away, they would still be pointless tat. There are ample machines that make great coffee...French press, Italian stove pot, Turkish/Lebanese pot. We don't need these. Lets make this the first Christmas we all make a big effort to stop buying needles plastic CRAP!
Asda do Tassimo pods, 3 packs of 16 for £10.that works out to 20.8p per coffee, can't get much cheaper then that 🏽
