Tassimo does a decent coffee but the inability to recycle was a major drawback so we looked elsewhere. We've switched to a Nespresso verteo or verion, or vertigo, whatever it's called. It the version that can do more than just espressos. While this is great, Nespresso also used the opportunity to add-in "barcode technology" which as we know is at the cutting edge, next to the latest in AI and advanced machine learning. Anyways, it does mean it doesn't have all the cheaper alternatives the standard Nespresso has. But, we love it all the same, we recycle all the pods, the service is excellent and the coffee is far better than Tassimo (it's also more expensive, so it should be).

We had a Tassimo for 5ish years I think, and we always bought the Columbian ones, kenco I recall. These were far better than most other pods we tried, in our opinion. But it's not in the same league as Nespresso. Though nothing is in the same league as a proper coffee. Done right even a regular plunged coffee can be better, but it requires something known as 'effort' and frankly I'm not on board with that.

Dolce gusto all the way but good price heat added
Recently got back from Geneva, everything was so expensive. This however 9 Swiss franks (£7.50) haha, tempting but too big for the suitcase
Bet you couldn't use a sports direct mug
Barcode technology
This price is extremely good. I am currently using this same machine. Compact design and works well. Plenty of drinks choices. The pods are expensive however at 25-50p each and pretty wasteful if you are environmentally conscious.
One thing to consider is the pods are much harder to source cheaper versions of than the nespresso models. Even Aldi makes nespresso pods. Tassimo tastes decent (so long as the machine brews hot enough) but you pay a premium.

What makes it better out of curiosity I'm looking to change from tassimo, nespresso not too happy about the whole child labour thing, though I suppose I could just buy other pods.

Which hot chocolate pods do you buy for the gusto?

They're recyclable at certain plants but they're not everywhere so worth checking near you.

Just the chococino ones
I second the d gusto machine / pod choices .... I regularly get great deals in B&M on branded pods such as galaxy, Cadbury’s fudge, Milky Way, nesquick, Horlicks, malteaser, galaxy white hot choc and galaxy orange hot choc ... all for no more than £3 per box. All really tasty!

Barcode technology

Well it does... It has to read the barcode on each disk to determine how to prepare
Dismissed these kind of coffee machines for years thinking they were just a money-grabbing fad.

However, we went to Center Parcs last weekend and there was one in the lodge. Had one coffee, instantly changed my mind and after the weekend away ordered one immediately from Amazon. Got 80 pods off Amazon for a decent price (£18) rather than the expensive super market versions and I'm now addicted to the thing. Jacob's Latte Macchiato is one of the best coffees I've ever had.

Another bonus is that they're quite small so hardly take up any real estate.
Hi what machine would you recommend please? I've always had Tassimo but my machine broke so ready to try something new. Would appreciate any tips please

I have this and the lor macchiato are amazing, I've never tried any other coffee from any other machine at home.
Thank you 😁
I'd recomend an ese compatible machine, £15.99 for 150 pods on amazon and they are just like teabags so can put in compost. 10.66p a coffee so you'd have the bit extra back in no time.
amazon.co.uk/DeL…8-5

That's £62.49 from amazon wearhouse and pods
amazon.co.uk/Not…KBZ
£15.99 for 150 (they were £13 when i got them a few weeks ago)
