Don't buy a Nespresso if you don't agree with the ethics and actions of Nestle. No question, if you have some basic morals. Nestle are scum. Total scum.

Warm your milk in a mug for 30 seconds in the microwave.

No coffee machine makes boiling hot drinks because boiling water impairs the taste of the coffee.

If you heat the milk though and then add your coffee you will have a nice hot but not boiling hot coffee. If you buy from a coffee shop it's exactly the same.

This exact machine has been in my local ASDA store for the last week for £24.99 and it even came with some voucher for £20 worth of discs or something. I was quite tempted but it all seems a bit like Printers and Ink Cartridges with Coffee Machines and their Filters and refills etc.

They give you the equipment cheap, and maybe even some freebies, but then get your money with the supplies.

Grr I paid £35 for this at Asda just a couple of days ago!

Very good machine though, hint Asda do some decent coffee style glasses for a quid that are a pretty perfect fit for this if you remove all the trays - but not the larger £2 ones!

Me too lol

Have this model for last few years and love it - makes drinks the right temperature for drinking. Thinking of getting another one for our caravan - and think I might have just found the best price yet. Actually got my first one from Argos when new to market for a bargain price too. Heat given - oh and Asda got the Costa pods reduced to £4.00 a pack today too, I picked up two packs!!!

Depends what you like. If you like a proper Italian style espresso then the only pod system that will make that is Nespresso with its 19 bar pump. Tassimo just makes glorified instant coffee which is fine if that's what you like but it is very far from proper espresso.

Good price, but you'll very soon spend a lot more than £30 on coffee pods.

That would be easier if they didn't have that old smoothie, George Clooney, telling me that a Nespresso would make me more desirable and that I should just get one. I want to be more like George and George wouldn't lie to me. Would he? But you would. I'm coming George!

The coffee from a Tassimo is the most disgusting stuff I have ever tasted. Absolutely rank stuff.
We have had one for years and I've tried every available coffee for it. It is all like drinking tar.

I have to agree with the above, I have had a Tassimo and the drinks are mainly horrible. The milk tastes very sweet and artificial and other drinks taste quite watered down. Also the drinks are usually warm at best, not hot.

We now have a dolce gusto which is much better. The pressure bar on a Tassimo is about 3, whereas on a dolce gusto it’s 15 so it tastes more like a coffee from a coffee shop.

Lots of places have the dolce gusto jovia for £28, I know which one I would go for

Since they revised their costa lattes they are disgusting. I have only used my tassimo a handful of times since the milk pod was revised/cost down. I bought a nespresso shortly after this. Nespresso latte with the aerochino is proper milk so I cant see how processed milk could ever be better than real milk.

I use my nespresso every day and my dolce gusto when I want a large cup, americano or grande pod.

It's no good saying this coffee or that machine is the best etc, my advice if a friend has either a Tassimo or Nespresso ask to try both and see what you like. That's what I did and decided for myself.

Cold from me same price as last Christmas and has been £60-£100 all year just reduced for Christmas. Not even new model.

Purchased this for my partner for Christmas. Does anyone know if the “milk pods” are needed or can you use just standard milk? eg: Cadbury hot chocolate bought - do I also need the milk pods to go along with it. Thanks for the help in advance!

You can use normal milk but I would heat it up first as the Tassimo doesn’t make drinks hot - just warm, so adding cold milk will result in a cold drink.

So is it actually possible to boycott nestle these days? Didn't realise it was something people still did. Considering they own so many food and pet food brands you probably wouldn't even know whether most things are owned by nestle anyway.

Speak for yourself. I do my research. Many people still boycott Nestle. So, yes, it is possible to boycott Nestle. Very easy actually.

The Cadbury pods come with 'milk' included (powdered) - so you just insert the one pod for an all in one solution

Tassimo coffee pods contain real fine ground coffee. Nothing like instant.

You don't need milk pods for coffee, just froth the standard espresso pods into hot milk. Then you can choose your milk type, quantity, temperature for yourself and you will be using fresh milk instead of concentrated UHT.

For hot chocolate I wouldn't even bother using the machine, it can be done far better with loose powder.

Heat added. Good deal.

I've got both machines and a Phillips senseo too.

I do not agree at all that the Dolce Gusto tastes better - they are pretty much on par in terms of coffee. When it comes to the milky drinks (Latte, Chocolate, Cappuccino) I would actually say the Tassimo is the better machine.

The Costa range for Tassimo is particularly good.
