Popped in my local poundstretcher on Leyton High Road London E10 today & found 1Kg tate & lyle granulated cane sugar @ just 49p.

It could be store specific but a good price at least a bargain for me and hopefully for HUKD community too.

From what I have read in a thread this one is OK as its a month since the last post.

I'm sweet enough thanks

Great price.

Is granulated sugar caster sugar for cheapskates? i.e. what would you use granulated for instead of caster?

Last time I checked cash and carries were selling these for 95p to supermarkets and shop owners.

Are you serious?
Supposing you're not a troll. Caster sugar is a finer version of granulated sugar. You can use them for the same thing. However some recipes may prefer one to another.

Ok. Stand corrected. Was an honest question. I've never grown up with granulated sugar in the house just caster and demerara. Caster sugar I use for sponge cakes and cornflakes, demerara I use for crumbles and porridge. Never used granulated sugar for anything, ever.

got to disagree with that, cane sugar for home brew is crap, but sugars from home grown sugar beet (like silver spoon) can be used.
