Brilliant film
Heat for the price. As an avid fan of Mr Robot and seeing that alot of his charcters mentality and personality is based off the Taxi Driver character, I've tried watching it a few times but really struggled getting into it...maybe i'm just not a fan of de niro although a young cybil shepherd...wowzer!

The new Joker movie is meant to basically be Taxi Driver and steal a lot from it. Maybe you will prefer that.

Actually, I read it reported that king of comedy influenced the new Joker movie. Which is why I sought it out and watched it. Some say that King of Comedy is Scorsese's finest? and it's free on Amazon Prime at the moment. I watched twice in the last 2 weeks - it's a cracker.

It may have influenced it and some do mention it. Reviews though have stated it is akin to Taxi Driver and and how much it uses Scorsese should have had a credit

This is just one by variety but a lot of reviews mention Taxi Driver.

> is a movie made in direct homage to “Taxi Driver,” though there are other films it will make you think of. As the story of a putz trying to succeed as a stand-up comedian, it evokes Scorsese and De Niro’s satirical riff on “Taxi Driver,” “The King of Comedy.” There are also elements lifted from “Death Wish,” “Network,” “V for Vendetta,” “The Empire Strikes Back,” “The Shining” and “The Purge.”
