Are these any good ?

Compared to TV's in the same price range, yes.
Anyone know how bright this gets?
one review on Amazon and its not good only 2 stars . Gutted really wanted this TV. amazon.co.uk/TCL…h=1
Someone over on avforums ordered one and is sending it back.

The other thing to keep in mind this has just been released and will likely drop in price, it maybe a reasonable set at a lower price point and if you don't expect it to perform with HDR content.
Unfortunately the UK doesn't get all the great TCL line-up the States gets. They were supposed to be bringing their 2020 sets out here and in Europe but with all that's happening this year I think we might miss out again.

I don't think any of the current TCL models available in the UK come anywhere close.

This is meant to be one of the US models, it's just been cut back so much again that it's become a completely different (and worse) TV.

Samsung also market sets differently in Europe, the Q80 in the US is the Q85 over here.

I guess they market/sell what they can get away with and in the US it is a larger more competitive market.

Vizio sell low priced sets with high specs (and you maybe the lucky customer who purchases the working set), which helps force the other manufacturers to compete.

I see... Well that is massively disappointing as at CES you'd think they were bringing out identical models but maybe missing some features (Roku OS etc).

Honestly we get shafted here which is annoying because they're great TVs in the US.

Yep we always get the downgrades, and they always cost more.
